New member tonite. :D I've been reading forum for about three weeks. :2: O.K. I'm addicted already! I had to get in here and see about signing up for the trip to Utah. I plan to retire in Moab if I can. (about 100 more years of bills to catch up on first). How can I get in on this trip? I have a bone stock red Z71 (when I can get my wife out of it, guess I have to raise it enough so she can't get in). Planning a few clean mods and a lift with tires/wheels. $$$$$$ :7:$$$$$$

Welcome to the club. If you are interested in attending, we have plenty of room and would love to see you make the trip. I have the hotel info and we still have rooms. All you need to do is PM or email me and I will give you the info to get one of our rooms in your name. Then you are all set.

Are you Nor Cal, So Cal or Central Cal?

Well Alright! Another SoCal Avalanche owner! (y) Welcome RIK!

Hey everybody. We still have three rooms we need to get reserved. I can only afford to hold them in my name until next Tuesday. After that, I am going to have to cancel them. This is the only lodging in the area, so you will be taking a chance that they give them to someone else. Come on, step up and take a room. This is going to be one great meet.

would like to attend the trip what do we need to do. I will only be able to attend sat-monday maybe tues is that ok..

After looking at the schedule and trying to conserve vacation days, we are planning to do the Grand Canyon on Tuesday and head back Tuesday evenining with a stop over in Las Vegas Tuesday night. Plenty of decent Vegas Hotels with midweek rates around $50 - $75. That should allow us some time in Las Vegas with an easy trip back home on Wednesday.

I posted an answer in the Lodging thread. PM me if you have any questions.

Glad to see you can come. The more the better.

That could be a good option for people not going to Moab. Just remember to call the hotel and change your reservation.

Well, today is the last day I can keep the remaining rooms in my name. I am going to cancel them tonight. If you email or PM before then, I will transfer it into your name. If you decide you want to come later, we still have plenty of room. We will also be able to reserve these rooms again, if they are still available.

On another subject, we did keep the 4 bedroom cabin/home (aka. Family Suite). 2 bedrooms are currently being used, but 2 are still available. This is the ideal room for you, if you really want to come, but budget is a problem. Since the room is already paid in full, these rooms can be used by anyone who needs them. If this trip is something you really wanted, but could not afford, this might help. Your only lodging cost is what you can afford. Can you afford $25/night, then the room is yours. If you can afford $10/night, then the room is yours. Get my drift? Stay in the room and pay what you can. Just come to the meet and have a good time. Only two of these rooms available, so sign-up soon.

PM me for details.

The hotel restaurant is only open on weekends this time of year. But, they will open the restaurant for us, if we request a group meal. I figured we would want at least one anyway, so how about Monday night? Need your responses ASAP so I can inform the resort manager.

I regret that I cannot attend this meet due to other October commitments.

But you can take me with you: ;D

I am guessing that many of us are going to arrive Saturday evening. After driving all day, I don't think we would be up to cooking a meal so we will probably want to eat at or near the hotel. Are there any other restaurants around the hotel?

It looks like we might have the most people on Sunday so a group meal might work on Sunday. If that is the case, Monday may be stretching it because how many of us would be interested in eating at the same place three nights in a row?

We plan to leave on Tuesday morning so any of the other days will work for us.

The restaurant is open on Saturday & Sunday, so we do not need to tell them for those nights. If we want to eat any meal on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesay we need to tell them now. They have agreed to open the restaurant just for us, but we need to eat as a group and tell them in advance.

I think Sunday is the best night as well, just wanted to see what everyone else thought and offered Monday as an options since we need to reserve for it.

I do not know if any other local restaurants exist, but I doubt it. I think this place is rather remote.

On another subject, everyone needs to be aware that the hotel is at a rather high elevation. It is up around 8500', so be prepared for cold weather at the hotel. I was told that Zion park is about 4000' lower in elevation and we can expect a 30 degree difference in temp. Bryce is about 1000' lower in elevation and will have a slightly warmer temp.

You guys may want to think about bringing both warm and cold weather clothes. Last time I camped in Bryce, It was the middle of July, and temps at night were dropping into the low 40's and high 30's.

I saw on the news the other day that they already got a snow storm in Utah, but I just didn't see where in Utah it was.

Meal planning for Monday will probably depend on where we are travelling. It looks like Sat/Sun at the Hotel... I think we would like to try something different on those other nights. There should be some eating spots en route to the various destinations. What is the situation with breakfast? Do we need to plan that in advance?

I know the rooms have kitchens, is anyone thinking about cooking meals on this trip? I thought that would be a way to keep costs down. We would be up for cooking at least one meal. Any thoughts.

I KNOW ITS OFF THE SUBJECT BUT HOW DO U PUT UP PICS..................Q

We will be able to bbq if we want to. All rooms have full kitchens. I do not plan on planning any group breakfasts, but enough people are interested, maybe we should.

Here is a proposition.

Friday evening everyone on their own. It will be a long day of driving and I will probably just want to eat and crash anyway. I am sure some will feel the same.

Saturday breakfast in the restaurant at 7:00am. The sun does not come up until around 7:00am.

All lunches on your own or small groups will probably congregate naturally.

Saturday evening bbq. Bring your own meat. A pot luck will be difficult to do past Saturday night, since most will want to prepare the food at home. This way it is only 48 hours old, if it is made on Thursday night.

Sunday breakfast and lunch, same as Saturday.

Sunday evening at the restaurant. Time to be decided onsite.

Monday same as Sunday. Except evening is also on your own.

I would like to make use of the kitchen as much as possible. The family suite also has a good dining room, we could eat at as a group. Not so many of us at this one, that we probably can fit ok.

You can attach a PIC that is around 100k or less, by using the attach button.

You can insert a PIC if you have the ability to host the PIC. Use the insert image icon in the post windows. It is 5th from the left on the second row.

Are people driving up on Friday 10/10? We were planning to drive up on Saturday 10/11 and make it in around early/late evening depending upon traffic.

A group bbq is still possible - I am sure there are plenty of stores on the way up. A pot luck may be a bit too much - hauling stuff up and keeping it refrigerated.

Sorry, I meant to start it using Saturday. Jumped the gun by a day.
