What did you do to your Avalanche today?

Since it was a 3 day weekend, I had some extra time. Installed new seat covers from theseatshop.com and painted the sails. Third brake light next weekend, I hope. Happy 4th!

I also replaced all of my front seat leather, including both arm rests and the driver's seat bottom foam with products from The Seat Shop.

That was several years ago and everything still looks and feels great.

Your seats look great, as well.

Here is a picture of mine.

Thank you, glad you posted and happy your seats are still holding up. Makes me feel like I made a good investment. That new foam makes such a difference, feels, looks and smells like a new truck again.

Put in a new left rear window regulator. cable snapped on the old one. Found a new one on ebay with a 10 year warranty. Took less than an hour to install.

Took a bike roof rack that I had out in the shop. Through on a set of panels off a 2002 that
I purchased sometime back. Just for something like this.

Took the pads off, put clamps on the rails and bolted it down.
Taking the little guy out tomorrow to teach him how to ride a mountain bike.

Drivers side wheel bearing, lower ball joint and inner tie rod today, 4 new tires last week.. The ball joint had enough play to move vertically by hand at least 1/8".

This all started with a tire patch and kept escalating from there... Next weekend is the passenger side, minus the wheel bearing.

Can I row mine down to your mechanic? Finally finished the fuel pump and had to replace the lines that connect to the pump and sit on top of the tank. Primed it, and it fired right up. But where the new lines connect to the old hard lines in front of the tank are leaking a sieve. :E:. I don't have time for this (radio edit). I hate all forms of plumbing whether it be in a house or on a car.
You might have to take the line back apart and use little emery cloth on it, or replace the seal, you can get the seal assortment kit from auto zone for 12.99, it comes with all the sizes you need.

It turned out being a rusted through line that I have the shop replace. Was squirting like old faithful.

Might as well do the wheel bearing too at this pont.
Good looking out camaroz. I already replaced the passenger front bearing back in December '19 when it started growling at me. I bought the drivers side at the same time and intended to swap as a set, but there was always some other pressing project. Now was the perfect excuse to get it changed out too, had the part on hand this whole time. Timken part# SP500301.

Remember the saying if one side is bad the other side is right behind it.

I'm getting ready to put rear shocks and springs on my Avy, it's starting to feel a little loose in the rear and I just noticed that the air bags on the shocks are both blown out. I guess after 226k miles things get a little worn out. LOL

Yeah about a year ago I notice the rear was acting funny when I turned a corner. I looked at the rear shackle and saw them OMG. I was lucky they did not break.

I didn't replace one I replaced both.

I have coil springs on my 2010, it also has the magna-ride shocks on it, $260.00 a piece for the aftermarket shocks and 60 bucks for the factory coil springs. SMH, I guess that's what I get for getting the LTZ model.

When I bought my 2003 Z-66 back in February 2020, there was very little that I did not like about it.

The truck was in overall really good shape.

However, the driver's seat bottom foam was worn out a little more than I liked.

Especially after having been used to the firm seating in my 2004 EXT.

When I replaced all of my front seat leather in my EXT, including both arm rests and the driver's seat bottom foam, with products from The Seat Shop, I became spoiled with the firmness of their DuroFoam seat foam.

IMG_1121.JPG

The driver's seat bottom foam in the Z-66 was worn smooth out and I could feel the metal spring runners when I sat down.

I am surprised the seat bottom leather was not worn completely out since bad foam is what leads to bad leather.

So, I ordered a new seat bottom foam and installed it.

From the looks of things, I was not a minute too soon.

The only problem is, now that the driver seat bottom is nice and firm, the OEM seat bottom leather is looking a bit too worn for me.

No holes, but I don't think it would take much with 246K on them.

So, I ordered both front seat bottom leathers.

The OEM seat covers have the cloth inserts along the front edge of the seat bottoms.

You can see on the old foam where the cloth has allowed who knows what, over the past 13 years, to leak down into the seat foam in the area of the cloth inserts.

The Seat Shop does not offer seat covers with the cloth insert, so the front seat bottom leathers I ordered will be OEM solid leather/vinyl designs.

This picture shows the cloth insert on the driver's seat bottom before the new seat foam was installed.

The new seat covers will not have the cloth insert, but the color will be correct.

The front seat backs, headrests and rear seating will still have the OEM cloth inserts since none of that will be changed.

The only cloth that will be missing will be the insert on the two front seat bottoms.

My wife and I both think that should not be an issue.

We shall see.

Here are a couple of pictures of the old seat bottom covers with the new seat bottom foam installed.

You will just have to take my word for it that the firmness of the seat is much, much better.

I got the email stating they have been shipped, so I will post up when I get them installed.

Wow, what a huge difference that is, I think I might order some for my 2010, the guy who owned it before me was a big guy and I sink in my driver's seat. I would imagine the foam is completely smashed. Thanks for the tip!

You will be impressed.

The firmness of the new seat foam is much better than even the original seat foam and it has held up nicely in my EXT for several years now.

I drove it through 100 miles of monsoon rains and flooded roads.
