I know this is 7 years later but another might read it as I did. I ran these mirror extensions. Towing a trailer for seven years on my 03 1500. Loved them, they never vibrated but I would take them off at every rest stop or restaurant also. They look like a fantastic fit. Almost looks OE
Yes I just watched one...And mine has the knock-out (actually cut-out) panel where the filter goes but I'm not sure it's worth the work...Or you could look at the older threads where some members did a "cabin air filter mod" and cut a slot in system to accept the air filter.
Not sure if mod works on second gen AVs though been awhile since i read up on the mod.
It won’t let me.Need Pics please

Just look at how much more money it's going to cost you when there is NO cabin air filter in there. After months and years - all the collections of various types of schmoo will get embedded directly into the A/C evaporator....isn't that wonderful?
I recently saw a YouTube video where a guy cut a slot out of the air box in order to pull the A/C evaporator 'cuz it was leaking. It was either do that - or go through ridiculous amounts of work to pull the dash out to get to it. You practically have to rebuild the truck after. Just crazy and not worth it. I think I'd be cutting if I had to. Anyway, the guy was not going to have it - so he did it the hack way - and his method worked fine...so my point is if he could do surgery to pull the evaporator without removing the dash, I don't think cutting a slot just upwind of the evaporator (where the filters normally would go) would be all that difficult.
Oh yeah. You should have seen the amount of gunk in that evaporator. That guy had no cabin air filter either!
Planned obsolescence? Yup.
Let's let all the dirt and moisture build up on the evaporator fins - instead of a cheap air filter....so that an expensive and difficult to replace part can fail sooner.
