Installed new driver side valve cover with updated PCV valve shield design, Dorman 264-969:

The oil consumption was not that bad, about 1 quart every 2,500 miles with 143,000 on the motor.. But for $60 I thought it was worth it to try the updated design. I'll try to follow up after the next oil change on results.

I'd like to pull mine off just to see what my valve cover looks like with 236k but I don't have a reason. I've put 3000 miles on her and not a drop of oil is missing. Exaggerating but I'm really surprised since my 2004 tahoe with the 4.8L burned a quart every 3k. Makes me think mines already been updated.

changed oil, rotate tires, and track down my brake noise... the inner brake pad of the left rear had separated from the metal plate, and thus trashed the rotor. ordered replacement parts today also. RockAuto for the win.

Pressure washed the rear underside to prep it for a coat of rust reformer. Found nice sized holes behind the fender liner when I removed it. 😟

Over the past weekend, I washed it so it's not road grime metallic any longer. Changed the Led headlights to a newer style LED
Checked it for burned-out bulbs, only had one front corner bulb that needed replacement.
Found the right side sail panels lights are not working so I have to go through the wire maze and see what wrong.
Took a peek at the doglegs under the cladding and I'm sure I'm going to have to replace part of the rockers also.
For some reason, the brakes are back to normal so no more mushy pedal I'm thinking some air in the master cylinder.
I push back my speedo back to 0 because it was stuck at 120{yeah I know bad stepper motor) but it works for now.
Can't seem to get power from the trailer plug so I have to get a tester for that.

I think that all LOL

Took the Avy to the SPA - and got the oil and filter changed.

Been 3 years and about 4000 miles.

Washed her....Changed the oil...Replaced the rear outside door handle and gassed it up (13.6mpg) I did all this in 2.5 hours First oil changed I've done in 25 years lol But I could buy everything I needed for two cars for a little more than what one would cost. Using Walmart Synthetic 5-30W (12qts for $35.85) next time even cheaper since I won't need to buy the funnel and oil tank/pan again. plus 5000 miles will take a year for me.
wife's 2017 Envision tomorrow...

Got the mirror glued back on.IMG_20210404_164454_9~2.jpg

If you ever wanted to know what happens if you drive with the rear view mirror unplugged and does it throw a code, yes it does. I'm not sure about the b2550.

took out the seats and center console, want to put amp in but afraid to cut factory wiring

Today I got my rear window regulator for the passenger side. Had gotten one and the bone yard a month or so ago but it completely failed and I had to tie the window up with some bailing wire.
I'll put that in, clean up the inside of the door of whatever fell off the old regulator and maybe start working on shoring up the dash for the repair.

This - it is temporary until I can take proper time to hit it with POR15 which will be temporary until I save enough to have it done properly. 18 years of Pennsylvania and Ohio winters have not been kind to Bumblebee. Need to get the rear brakes and shocks done this week so I can move daughter into her apartment Saturday.

Dropped the 2500 off at the dealer, who somehow beat my local shop by 2 hours labor to replace both rear shackles, replace the Aux fuel tank, and replace both fuel pumps. And with self-sourced parts at that.

The driver side shackle broke and allowed the leaf spring to jump up and snap the filler barb off of the auxiliary tank. Right at the tank surface. Cant drive it around too much as it makes it impossible to refuel the truck without somehow plugging the hole. I believe the front fuel tank has a leak around the transfer unit. It leaks gas pretty heavily if the truck is filled past 3/4. I was going to put this off for a couple months, but.. when in Rome..

Fortunately/ unfortunately a red 2500 met its demise in a front end collision and by some dumb luck they had both tanks at the scrap yard for $75 each. (the 8.1 survived, but they wanted $2800 + $500 core for a 120k mile motor) That auxiliary tank is not easy to come by. Next closest was three states away in wisconsin. Or GM direct for $580. Planning to keep the old parts and refurbishing them. Gas tank Renu apparently has a barb repair kit of some sort. But the tank would have to be dropped either way as far as I am aware.

That sounds familiar I caught my shackles just in time before the driver's side broke.

Yeah, i look at it like a bit of karma on myself for not taking care of it immedately. Truth be told, it is my first leaf spring vehicle, and I had no idea the fuel tank inlet was dead nuts below the leaf springs.

When i originally took it in, one shackle was held on by a c-clamp, so it's not like I, nor the dealer weren't aware of the issue. Iactually had recieved my tax return and went there to have them price out shocks for it along with the shackles, because I personally dont see the point of doing one if the other is broken. Then by a stroke of luck, my brakes started fading jsut after leaving, so I went back and dropped it off for the brake lines. I still told him I wanted the shocks taken care of, but he had to get back to me on the part prices for everything. Long story cut short, they never replaced the shackles, and literally when going to pick up dinner i heard a loud pop/ bang from the rear end and I think that's when the driver side let go and killed the tank.

Suits me right for not tackling it immediately when we found out, little did I know it would cause this headache, but man, talk about a string of bad luck. One thing after another, but im running out of parts to fix. haha. Hopefully this is the last visit for the year and i'll start patching up the panel rust and coat the frame.

I installed a foot print gas pedal. Yeah it’s pretty sweet. Daaaang!

Get one of those chrome chain steering wheels and you will be set for summer.

I can dig it.

:) (y)

Changed my oil and went with royal purple.
Bought the filter a couple weeks ago at AutoZone. Had called and asked them to have it pulled and ready so I could be in and out. They did so but bagged the wrong one.
Imagine my surprise after draining the oil and pulling the filter to find the wrong filter in the bag.. Alright, these guys know me well enough, they'll do right by the situation and deliver the right one. Fat chance.
The manager of the AutoZone basically said I should have checked the part before I left the store, yet isn't that why I provided the year make model and engine?
Talk about a tough spot. No oil, removed old filter already and didn't want to waste the new oil with the old filter. A twenty minute gig turned into an ordeal as I have no other transportation.

Since it was such a very nice day and I found my round tuit I decided to finish a project I started years ago. I finished painting the interior.IMG_20210407_180614537.jpg

I watched a thunderstorm turn my yellow/green Avalanche red again.

Now thats funny right there especially if you live in South with all the Pollen everywhere.

Every time it rains lately the AV is covered with a light brown substance, everyone thinks it's dirt but it's actually tree pollen.
