What did you do to your Avalanche today?

Oil pressure sending unit changed out. The electrical connector locking clip was a pain to remove, ended up having to do it using a borescope watching the video feed on my phone and using a pick. I tried and tried to pry it up blind with my fingernail but just couldn't get it done.. It might have been quicker to just remove the intake manifold, but it's done now.

The little screen under the oil pressure sending unit was remarkably clean. I admire the prior owners oil change interval over the first 110,000 miles, she must've been very consistent. Truck has over 150,000 now and that tiny filter/screen was in good shape, replaced it anyway for good measure.

Not today, but last weekend put the winter tires on. I also invested in a tire storage system because tires for four vehicles were stacked to the ceiling.

I also bought a Launch diagnostic system that is getting returned. It was supposed to come with a TPMS tool. Turns out 1) it's not a Launch TPMS tool. You're supposed to pair the launch TPMS tool with the system and 2) the cheapo tpms tool didn't even work.

Nice tire storage rack! I built one out of 2x4s a couple years ago for my wheel collection but i need something more mobile and permanent/professional. What brand or part number is it?

Thanks Frito for another Reason to live in the south... same tires year round!

Think I am up to well over 174 reasons now.... LOL

I got it at Tirerack.com when I bought my daughter's winter tires this year. HIGH CAPACITY ROLLING TIRE STORAGE RACK

They also have a smaller one with storage on the ends for Jack stands and such

Bought me a deoblo tuner and the first thing I did was disable the AFM/DOD. I'm getting ready to order a AFM delete kit cam, lifters, pushrods the whole works.

I just bought a Diablo tuner as well. I got the Diablosport Intune i3 to calibrate for tires and gears. Which one did you get?

Forgot I had a Superchips tuner so I paid the fee to unlock it to use on the 13'. Didn't know that it does AFM/DOD disable so now I have a Range AFM/DFM Disabler I don't need. Also wrapped my new headlights in PPF to help with the rock chips and yellowing for the future, and ordered my new rims.

I haven't noticed any difference in MPG , have you?

Ok I had mine tuned up just wires and plugs, along with they found a busted motor mount I didn't know about, man what a difference that made I'm just now finding out what I've been missing, in a way I'm estatic and a little perturbed I didn't catch the motor mount thing but live and learn, just grateful it's running so good.

Driving home this evening in snow storm. Wind blew an orange traffic barrel out in the road right in front of me and could not avoid it. Was braking when I hit it at about 30mph. It ripped the front bumper cover and pushed the license plate area back and ripped the lower valance/spoiler off. Luckily it did not damage anything behind the bumper cover and really lucky the airbags did not go off. Time to get estimates. Quickly priced new bumper cover and valance and it looks like it will be way less than what my deductible is, so at least I will not have to deal with insurance claim. I know a paint and body guy and will see what he can do for me.
Sorry that happened buddy, hope you get er fixed good

Hell yea! I just did motor mount two weeks ago and every acceleration and take-off from a stop sign just feels so much better. I'm still amazed every time I drive it. I wish I could like your post more than once because it makes that big of a difference.

To anyone else (especially with a 2nd gen)... Raise the hood, hold the brake with left foot, put it in drive and rev the engine up just a bit a few times, if the motor moves up and down independently from the truck your motor mount is shot.

Here is a before video!

Put a USB port in for the wife to use (replaced the corroded cigar lighter that didn't work).

Fixed the horn (safety issue), the horn worked with the remote / alarm (relay and fuse OK) but did not work when the steering wheel center was pushed. As with most electrical issues on this vintage Chevy, it was a common issue. Once the horn "button/air bag" is removed there was no voltage present. The "moving" contact was corroded. Cleaning it up and increasing spring pressure did the trick. I now have the ability to audibly inform other drivers of my dissatisfaction with their lack of driving ability.

Finally got the spare tire off (looks like the OEM spare on this '04)
If you recall the lock was "gubbered up". I gave it a month+ of WD 40 soakings to no avail.
I gave up and took the air grinder to it. I ground thru the outer sleeve of teh lock until I could use a smaller screwchisel (aka screwdriver) to punch the locks pawl back and remove it..
I inserted the tool to lower the tire. As I feared The linkage is all rusted up and would not lower the tire. More grinder work to cut the cable and get the spare out.. refilled with air the spare now lives in teh bed of the Avalanche.. EMERGENCY use only (previous owner upgraded the tires all around to 18", the spare is 16").

I've read that a few members have replaced their power outlets with usb. I want to do that with at least one of mine in front. Is it a matter of popping the old one out, unplugging a couple of wires and just replacing with the usb outlet? Or is there more to it?

I had mine done when I got my new head unit installed. Not sure the process

The old cigar lighter did not work.

I removed the "dash panel" which allowed me to undo the wiring and force the old cigar lighter out.

the cigar lighter ckt is "always hot", so I connected to a hot in run (only) circuit to energize a relay that connects the (always hot) cigar lighter circuit to the new USB "gizmo"

Several years ago I bought a bunch of the (cigar lighter size) USB "ports": they look something like this:

The end product is my wife gets a handy USB port to plug into, it looks nice and being "lit" when energized, the relay keeps it from draining the battery.

note, Only in my Avalanche did I replace the cigar Lighter, in my other SUV's n P/U Trucks, I drilled a hole the correct size and mounted it (same wiring idea / relay using the cigar lighter ckt).

when it is light out and warmer, I can post a picture of it finished in my 04 Avalanche

Added projector LED headlights, new chrome grille, chrome tow hooks and changed all the plug in 12V accessories to USB 3.0 plugs (two in the front, one in the rear).

Do you have any problems with the new usb power outlets draining the battery?

I did something similar, I powered mine from the (always hot) cigar lighter circuit, but I put in a relay that is energized from a "hot only in run" circuit.

Can you explain a little more on how you connected the relay?

Gave the Mule an over do oil change. Creeping up on the 100K mark.
Waiting for the warmer weather to tackle a good going over and fresh mods.
