What did you do to your Avalanche today?

Hey Avalanche fans, I just picked up (not literally :D ) an 07 AV. Used to have a Yukon years ago and had to get back to GM truck experience.
Thought I would try to see who's doing what to their AV daily. If this is already a post, I missed it and will delete this if necessary. Otherwise . . . . . What did you do to your AV today?
Hi just bought my first Avalanche 2 months ago, already put a bow tie on the rear window, “ Avalanche “ graphics on windshield and a bull bar on the front bumper. If I figure out how to post a picture I will later. Just joined today!

You will need to make some more posts, maybe 10 or so, and then you will become a "Full Member" and you will see an "Insert Image" button on the toolbar when you are creating your post.

Then, you can add all of the pictures your want.

Looking forward to the pics.

:) (y)

Replaced the ATF filter & fluid.

It took all day. 4 hours to get the pan off and on & 4 hours to remove a bolt we broke the top off.

Granted not all done today. Bought mine 2 months ago. So far new tires, new headlights, new taillights, put 3 inch wheel spacers on today, and will be pouring more money into it this weekend lol. I'm enjoying the hell out of my AV

Had Nokian Outpost AT Tyre's installed.

Would not recommend these tires for towing. They have to much side wall flex.
Working with the owner of the shop.

Started my 100K maintenance.
Serviced;
Trans, Rad, lubed, front diff.

Replaced the trans cooler. The one I had was to big, did not want to remote mount under the Avy.
Was in a pinch got the biggest one I could find in stock. Will look at a better set up.

I just recently installed the Tru-Cool - Max LPD47391 47391 Low Pressure Drop Transmission Oil Cooler in my 2003 Avalanche 1500 2WD.

It fit nicely.

This week, the highs are in the 100's here, like in many places.

I just took a 80 mile highway round trip on the Interstate at 75-80 MPH and the trans temp sat at 150 degrees once things got fully warmed up.

In the past, I was seeing 200 under the same conditions.

I'm extremely pleased.

I routed the transmission fluid first through the factory radiator cooler and then up to the Tru-cool before sending it back to the transmission.

This is how the factory aux cooler in my EXT is routed.

If you are interested, I can post up some links to the mounting kit, radiator port adapter and hose I used.

I've followed your post and I'm looking at Tru-Cool and mounting kit. The cooler I have is from my old Jeep days. Has been on the self for years.
It has a fan and thermostat which made it to deep. So the one I have now is the biggest NAPA had in stock. About 1/2 size bigger than stock. Did not see a lot of improvement, but it was very cool and rainy first trip out. Looking to do longer trips and want the trans to last for a little longer. Yes I run through the rad cooler.
EXT4ME thanks for the tips.

Can you describe how you filled it in with the insulation? I would like to do the same.
I found a fix for the rattling dash issue. I ordered a

Rubber U Channel Edge Trim Small, Fits 1/16 inch Edge (1.6mm), Length 10 Feet (3.05 Meter)

Edge trim from Amazon. The above is their description. I cut it to length, pulled out the pieces of foam insulation I had put in the slot, installed the edge trim, no adhesive needed as it gripped the dash edge. After a test ride on bumpy roads, through road construction and speed bumps not a sound, rattle or vibration. You can see the janky repair from the dealer prior to purchasing the truck. It appears to be the perfect thickness to take up the slack between the two sections of dashboard.

Decided it was time for a detail on the Avalanche.

Applied CERAKOTE Ceramic Trim Coat Kit - Quick Plastic Trim Restorer to all of the cladding.

I really like that stuff.

Next, I will clay bar and ceramic the paint.

But, not today.

It got too hot, too early.

Since they are calling for 100's over the next few days, it may be a short while.

I'm in no hurry.

Happy 4th, everyone!

Broke out the clay bar and the DA polisher.

I was happy to find the clay barring went a lot easier and quicker than it did the first time I did that on the Avalanche two years ago.

I'm pretty sure the first time I did it was the first time ever for that 2003 truck.

I started about 7:30 am and quit around 11:30 am for the day.

Even in the shade of the garage, it was much too hot to carry on.

There is always tomorrow.

Tackled my cladding and trim with Solution Finish over the crappy Wipe New result of a year ago. Very pleased with the results of first effort. I've posted in the "Faded Cladding" problem are post as well for posterity. Will update as I continue the process.

That moment when the detail work is finished, the tools are all put away and you can just sit back and think to yourself "Yup, it was all worth the effort."

Not bad for almost 20 years and over 267K miles old.

Then, reality hits .......

That yard isn't going to mow itself.

come cut my lawn too as it is hot and muggy.

I pay in beer!

Truth be told, we are in a drought at the moment and Mother Nature is in charge of watering the yard.

And when I took that picture, the thermometer was reading 103.3 in the shade.

I doubt any grass will be getting mowed around here any time soon.

Instead, I went and took a shower and then I took a nap.

To-do list complete.

:)(y)

And why exactly is it you try to convince us in the north to move south? Was Satan also walking up and down the street? ;) 😓😅

The heat index was 112-117.

The heat helps keep the rust at bay.

:ROFLMAO:

Air Conditioning.... & Swimming pool
They help fight the heat.
