Here is a tip:

Try and find STP Vision Blade or PPG Aquapel window treatment...it is a rainX product but works much better in that it does not use silicones so when using the wipers it does not leave a hazy smear. Also the water beads are taller and blow off quicker.

I've always used RainX, but it's a PITA to buff out the streaks. It's time for a switch. There are at least two new products on the market that claim to be easier to apply. Do they work? What does everyone else use?

Thanks!

STP is aquapel relabeled...I love it and I use to use Rainx on my last vehicle.

Suggestions:

CLean window with lighter fluid to remove any rainx or other silicone products like wax or polymers.

Then clean again with favorite auto window cleaner.

Then buff clean again with dry surgical green cotton towel as I find these lint the least.

Then apply the STP by squeezing wings to activate. Apply to windshield horizontally first than go back over it vertically. Then do sides if you desire...

Then get paper towels and start buffing turning the paper towels frequently...It seems as if it won't dry then presto poof it is dry and haze free.

This stuff lasts a long time and the beads are bigger and blow off at lower speeds I find. No smearing when you use wipers at slow speeds either.

I did see a site online that sold the STP for $24 a case of 12 which is a great deal but I lost the site...

Good Luck

ygmn - Is the STP a single application blade product? I haven't seen it but I am interested.

It is a single application product. It comes i a container that looks like a hot dog bun with wings.

A flat side is covered in felt where the chemicals are applied to the glass.

Search for Aquapel as well but it is more expensive even though they are identical products.

The place online that sold it was some kind whole sale place that you had to join I remember the pages had lots of red on them....

If you find it tell me as I would like to stock up!!!

I think I saw this on the Zaino(Edmunds) or Autopia Detailing site.Anyway, here is a dealer for Aquapel.Try www.speedymetalpolish.com where it's listed for $9.95(which seems to be a good price).I haven't tried the product yet. :)

Yes Frule that is an excellent source for it.

Pep-Boys sells the STP version for around $7.00. Haven't tried it but happened to see it today and thought about getting it. Should have, since it sounds like it's better than Rain-X. Next time I'm in there I'll pick one up.

I have found the STP for as low as $1 an applicator when stores are unloading it.....

I clean my windows with vinegar and water (2:1) in a spray bottle. The only window I have treated is the midgate. It is new, no deposits, so I treated it with RainX. I am still removing deposits on the other windows.

Aloha,
Murman

I have been using RainX for couple years now on several of my family's cars. I love the stuff. Clean the windshield, apply it according to the instruction, wait couple minutes, clean it out with a damp cloth, dry, and done.

Since the time I used RainX, haven't have much use for the wipers, especially on the freeway. Let it rains. ;)

Aquapel has started to show up in many of the windshield dealers throughout the city. I considered having it applied when I had my windshield replaced, but will most likely book an appointment and have it done in the coming weeks. (The dealers apply it themselves, and seem to do a very good job of it from what I have seen. The cost is $20 CAD - about $13 USD - to have them do it, including the cost of the product.)

I've used RainX prior to this, but from what I have heard and seen, Aquapel is even better - something that needs to be seen to be believed, because I still remember how shocked I was when I first saw RainX. :)

I have been using the silicone that comes with the PIAA wiper blades. Doesn't work as well as I would expect; I am thinking that I might not be cleaning the w/s enough beforehand. I'll try the lighter fluid idea.

Not a bad prioce figuring the normal price per tube for application is around $9......It is very easy to DIY....easier then Rain X.......And it makes bug clean up easier.

For all those interested (or not!!) :0:

I just bought and used Rain-X's new formulation: "Rain-X Windshield Wax". It does the same thing as the original product, but is a MUCH easier to apply...little to no bufifng required!! ;D

If you've never tried a product like this...DO...

If you've tried Rain-X before, and it was a PITA to buff out...YOU'll love this because it seriously rediculously easy!!

Good luck to all!!

ADIOS,

R.J.

I use a product called rainmagic i bought at pomona nhra race been using it for about a year never have to reaply just put capfulls in washer tank.

Saw John Force and most of funny car teams using it on their windshields they said it cut friction at high speeds

I use Dupont 3812 or Artex  Both do a great job of removeing wax or any other stuff like stickers off your windows..

It was 60 degrees here in NY Thursday so I waxed the old girl and re applied some rain-x while i was at it

Just washed and KLASSED the AVy.,...

I put Klasse AIO on all outsides of windows.....

I normally use Aquapel on windshield but since it has so many little pit marks....it does not work well anymore....

Do any of you guys notice a hazy film that builds up on the inside of the glass?? I have been told that was the vinyl from the interior parts giving off some kinda vapor or gas that causes it. I wonder if using RainX or other like poroducts would help keep the windows cleaner??

I think the film on mine is called tar & nicotine.

Some of the outgassing is actualy comming from the glass as part of curing process which can take months. There have been some PSB from PPG about it
