What don't you like about you Avalanche?

Other way around. Oddessy is the manufacturer.

OK you are right just meant they are the same battery just in a different case.

I like that it is a combination of a luxury truck and a normal pick up.  Since I added a Kenwood DNX6990HD navigation system and two 10" Memphis sub woofers under the back seat, I feel like it made the cab more, exciting.  With the covers over the back, it protects whatever I throw in the back from rain, snow, etc.

We call that a SLUT bambam13 Sport Luxury Utility Truck

Lol i love to hear this... Ive been calling my Avalanche my slut since ive owned her.. But never referring to that context

I love my avy but jeeze this damn cracked dash.. FML

Does anyone else have a problem with hearing everything in the bed area while the seats and tray tables are in their upright and locked positions?

You may want to fold your seats down and open then slam your midgate. If I don't get mine shut all the way I can hear and smell whatever is in the bed.

I concur  with wyotonka make sure your midgate is fully closed. If you still hear bed noise consider letting the kids out....  or getting a Bedrug kit, I got one and it really quieted things down.

thanks, I tried that. Cleaned all seals, still sounds like the gates open.  No kids, but letting the wife out helped a little. most of that noise is in the passenger side of the cab now.  >:D

Still can't get this figured out.  :E: I'm gonna do the flashlight trick this evening and see if any light is coming through. Also, I changed the front struts out this week and now I'm hearing a clunking noise coming from the driver side when I hit a bump. Anyone know what this could be? Took the tire back off and double checked to make sure the strut seated right, and all components were tight. The sway bar bushing was falling a part little bit but not enough to worry me.

That be a good one! Thanks.

To be able to remove the option of Auto Door locks.  The only option is at speed or when shifted out of park.  But no actual to disable it completely.  Unless someone knows a trick I dont.

I just think its un-needed wear and tear on the locks, or whyatever else is used to operate them.  And an option Ive always hated

It also awakes sleeping infants that you were driving around just so they would sleep already!!

I still think the Avalanche NEEDS a split midgate. I don't like having to give up all rear seating for a stack of 2x4's

I remember in a thread several years ago there was a GM design/marketing person asking questions about what features owners wanted in the next generation AV (second gen)
and the split midgate was mentioned. The answer was it would be a problem with flexing and water leaks as well as locking both sides up.
One member I believe tried cutting a hatch in one side of midgate using a boat hatch to secure the hole. he seemed happy with the mod but no long term reports as I remember.

The old Subaru Baja had a hatch between the bed and passenger compartment.  It seems like they could be able to do it with a modification to the frame.  By that I mean, have a rigid surrounding frame, including the top cross bar, that could be used for structural integrity while allowing the split midgate.  My idea would only work when the midgate is down with the window installed and cross bar in place.

I for one don't want a split midgate or a power back window, as some people keep mentioning. Both of those features contradict eachother, and they would really not help the functionality. I have loved the functionality of both my Av's as they are, but then again I don't have kids or car seats.

^^^^ 100% truth, it pisses me off every time!

I went to the dealership, and the performance shop who did my supercharger, and we all dug in to the computer system to try and disable this feature.  It was impossible.

Great, well at least I know IM not the only one that cant do it.  I can see the feature being useful to some, but not having an option to disable it completely is dumb.  Every other vehicle I have had had this option, but you could turn it off at least

I think the only way I would take it on is if I could make power folding seat motors work to fold the seats and midgate down. That way it's just a push of a button. Then you could put a button for each half by the tailgate so you wouldn't have to walk up and fold everything, and a button up front for when you're in the cab.

You better get cracking.

Don't know about the '12 but....through '07 there was a general public option to disable. Beginning '08 model year (mine) that went away. A bit of digging and I found an LE software fix for this issue. Took bulletin print out to dealer and they, amazed, tried it and it worked. Given my original purchase contract specified auto door locks disabled upon delivery, no charge. Many years back and link lost, but good luck!

When I bought it I never thought of even asking for this to be disabled, as in the past GM expereince, its been able to be done in the options.

What bulletin did you take in?
