does anyone know what is this PREFERRED EQUIPMENT SAVINGS (1SZ) i see on some 04 av's?

Oh, an even better one is the Texas Edition (PDE). It's a trailering package and roof rack for $405 MSRP. And in return, you get a $1,000 Texas Edition Discount (1SZ). So net "cost" is, uh, a $595 credit!

Yep, I got the Sun and Sound Package too. It's a decent sized sunroof, and really nice riding around with it open. May even keep the XM subscription for a year.

Also I found that 1SZ discount is usually paired with the WBH Option, so you get $1600 discount.

In my last search for my Ava I found 30 cars and only 1 have the 1SZ without the WBH.

Ok, I hope we are not confusing 2suv. Here are the packages that have associated discounts or incentives:

PDA ? Sun and Sound package (basically, sunroof, XM radio, bucket seats, floor console, other stuff) ? MSRP $2,995
Sun and Sound Discount ? ($1,000)

PDE ? Texas Edition (trailering equipment and luggage rack) ? MSRP $405
1SZ ? Texas Edition Discount ? ($1,000)

WBH ? Without Body Hardware ? ($600)

You can get PDA without PDE or WBH. You can also get WBH without PDE. The fact that you?ve seen 30 vehicles with both WBH and PDE, I believe, probably reflects more that ordering a PDE results in lowering your truck price by $595! You spend $405, and they give you back $1,000. Didn?t take the dealers long to figure out that?s a good deal.

Alternatively, if you didn?t want the roof rack, you could order the Z82 Trailering package (which just includes the hitch and 7-pin connector) for $210 MSRP. Hmmm, order the Z82 alone, and it costs me $210. Order the PDE (adds roof rack), and it nets me a $595 credit. You better hope your wife finds the roof rack acceptable!

Actually what I meant was that I couldn't find many PDE/1SZ by themselves. They almost always had a WBH. Just might be my area but I think they did it to create a nice large price gap between the Normal model and the Stripped down Special Models ($1600 Discount)

YMMV but you will probably find the PDE/1SZ discounts on the WBH models.

So, is a WBH known as the "stripped down special model"? I think you need to rethink this. I think the higher volume sales of the WBH vs the cladded model say that most people don't care for the cladding. It has nothing to do with saving $600 on a $35,000 vehicle.

It also has nothing to do with what's inside the vehicle. FYI, I have leather, sunroof, XM, convenience - I think the only thing I skipped was DVD. I just didn't really care for the looks of the cladding. (I do like the looks of the front end a bit more, but not enough to go with the clad on the sides.) I think a WBH alternative was a smart move by Chevrolet, and from what my dealer tells me about WBH/clad model sales being 3/1 now, the market has responded favorably too.

Ho ho Trisailor, I and not calling the WBH the stripped down special. I in fact have almost the same AV as you. WBH, and every feature but DVD and DIC. Everyone at works says the Flares are much better looking than the Cladding.

I am calling the Avalanche that is Retailing for 32135(CA) the Stripped down special. (Basic, WBH, and 1SZ) There is only one model cheaper than this and it's got a soft tonneau. (Big mistake IMHO - The hard tonneau is the Win)

All I was really saying is that I cannot (Except once) find a 1SZ by itself. I find the 1SZ always paired with the WBH.

Sorry, I misunderstood.

With the way the WBH sales are going, in a couple of years this will be a WBH site, and there will be a special section for those with cladding! Joking ;D

I liked the DBM. Was my second choice. Actually, I think all waxed up, it looks better than the DGM. But I was a bit worried that I'd tire of the blue sooner.

Hehe apology accepted!

DBM is nice, it has this weird effect of looking blue in the sunlight and black in low light...hehe.

I had a choice between a DBM or a white, I like the white but it will look just like all the other cars on the block....

Of course as my Personal Msg says, a nearby neighbor went and bought one too......COPY CAT! :)
