what is this part called?

I was wondering what part that empty slot next to the AC vent was called. Im going to drill a hole through that one and make a few switches but incase my parents flip i can show them its replaceable. thanks

ha okay thanks, i have interior lights that run off two switches (front and back) and im going to move them to that cubby and replace my current switches with ones that look like http://ec3.images-amazon.com/images/P/B000BB40ZY.01-A1T0VEFK4F7RX4._AA280_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg <--those.  then im going to have my bass and treble knob there as well.. im going to do it so only the switches show and the rest is just black covering, not sure what material im going to use though.. should be done in a week or two and ill post some  pictures! thanks again for the help

Here's a suggestions for the material:  Marine lumber AKA Starboard. It comes in white or black and varying thickness'.  It also has the same pattern in it as the stock dash.  Here's a pic or 2

Hav'nt seen it there.  Most boating stores should carry it.  Boaters World , Bass Pro shops ect.
