What size Winch is needed

You should be fine with a 9000lb winch, and if you find yourself in some DEEP concrete style mud, you could double up with a snatch block, and if you are still stuck or the line snaps at that point, then you'll need either a wrecker or an excavator to get you out. J/K. Me personally went with a Mile Marker E12000, for the 'just in case' scenario. Fortunately I've only used it on others that were stuff. The few times I've managed to get stuck, either the trees were too small or too far away to use as an anchor. Just as an add on, you should think about one of the 'Land Anchors' they make getting out of any spot a piece of cake, or at least in the sense that you don't have any suitable alternatives for anchor points. Also remember to put a light weight like a jacket or blanket on the winch line, if under severe tension, because that line will kill and maim if it snaps.

Bigger is always better and no way to say what will work all the time since we do not know how you will get stuck....  many variables in play here.

Thanks All for your info, thinking of a 12,000lb. Badland from Harbor Freight have seen several YouTube video's liking them BUT anyone have any negatives on these as have a 25% coupons about to run out of date.

I know a couple guys that use them as trailer winches, and one guy that was running it on a jeep, I figure if you are putting a winch on your AV, get one that is known for being reliable, even if you have to pay $$$ for it.
