What size wire should I get

I can?t decide whether to go with 4 gauge OFC that I know will fit or get 0 gauge CCA that I might have to make fit somewhere. My amps will be at 800 rms total and 1600 peak total. Is 4 gauge enough because I know some manufacturers way overrate their power handling capabilities so just not sure on actual performance. Any help is greatly appreciated.

4 gauge is a bit small, it would work if you were only going a few feet but you should really use at least 2 gauge minimum.. Bigger is better when it comes to wire size for car amps..

This site is good and can answer a lot of questions on car audio and more..

I used Welding wire in mine... If the amps say minimum 4gauge you would want to only consider 2gauge wire to run from battery to each amplifier due to the length of the run. Resistance in the wire will reduce the practical size of the wiring. There are charts that compare gauges to lengths of wire to show what you should be running.

There is no such thing as too big of a wire.

Thank you for all the responses! I think I will run 0 gauge as it will be coming from the battery. I guess I will find some way to make it fit inside the trim.

In my '03 1/0 fit in the channel on the passenger side. Both wires... Its at the rear where you have problems depending on where you are running them too. Going around the B pillar bottom took some work too. Since I plan to redo my amp setup I just have the spare wire coiled up under the rear seats at the moment. I plan to make water resistant amplifier boxes within my side pockets but have a bunch more I am doing before I get to that point.
