I just bought my head unit and everything I need to go XM. Now I am debating the next step. I believe I want to go components for the front doors. Are there different sizes for these? What is recommended for around the $200 - $250.00 price range? I believe I need an amp as well. What amp is recommended in that same price range? I listen to mostly rock but some rap if that makes a difference.

What size and type of speakers do I need for the back doors? Any suggestions in my standard price range?

I am figuring on a sub some day in about 6 months if that changes how I do any of the other parts.

mrowe8,

I fought it and fought it but bottom line, I don't think you'll be happy without a sub.

A number of us have installed Kicker components. ?They make the RS6 components for the fronts that is 6.5" and and 65.2 components which are 6.75". ?I have the RS6 but I don't think there is much, if any, difference once you hear both. ?Stick with 65.2s. ?They're cheaper, sound great and and much easier to fit in the front door panels.

Back doors - you want fill in for a sub later or trying to get everything out of the doors? ?I tried the Kicker RMB6 mid bass drivers but was still missing something. ?I switched to Kicker 65 (6.5" coaxials) for the rear doors.

For $500 you would spend on front and back speakers you can go this route and add an 8 -10" sub. ?I have a Kicker ?Comp 8vr in a .4 cu.ft. enclosure under the left rear seat. ?I can still get the midgate down with ?quick disconnect of the sub.

As to the sub, I have a 8 year old Alpine 3554 50w x 4 that still plays strong as an acre of garlic mounted under the right rear seat.

I all depends on what you want in the bass region of your system. ?I'm pleased with my bass. ?It's plenty strong enough for inside my Av cabin. ?I too like good rock, mostly classic rock with some newer stuff, just not headbanger. ?I've been playing some techno stuff for a good strong bass response while I'm experimenting with the sound.

BTW - I'm not trying to announce my presence a block away with big bass for others to be impressed with.
