What type of bulbs are 9005s & 9006s?

Are they H1, H2, H3, H4, etc? I'm doing some research various Headlight replacement bulbs, and I'm unsure of what "H" type bulb the Avalanche uses. Thanks...

"H" for Halogen if I'm not mistaken.
Commonly used in aftermarket driving/fog lights assembly.

9005/9006 are a different breed of bulbs.

I did some more research on the Internet. It seems that:
9006 = HB4
9005 = HB3

OK here's my next question... what is the safe maximum wattage specs for the Hi-beams and Low-beams? This is what I've found so far...

9006 (Low Beam) = 55 to 60 Watts
9005 (Hi Beams) = 65 to 70 Watts

Is this correct? I don't want to get too hot a bulb and melt anything. Again thanks in advance for your help

What you found for wattage for Hi/Lo would be safe. Perhaps some other members have experimented in this area will chime in.
