What would you purchase as your next vehicle if the Avalanche did not exist?

Drove a 2015 Tahoe LTZ on Friday. Definitely at the top of my list for a next vehicle!!  It was the nicest SUV I've driven and I owned a range rover a couple years ago  :B:

Well it was a hard day but I traded in the Avalanche and took delivery of a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado Double Cab 2WD Texas Edition in the late production Rainforest Green Metallic. I will sure miss my AV and hope that by the time my lease is up in 3 years maybe they will have wised up and brought the AV back.

Crew Cab ? which is full size rear doors Chevy/GMC. Extended cab is smaller but bigger than a regular cab and may or may not have back doors.

I wish they would all use the same nomenclature as Chevy which invented them

It's called Double Cab now since the rear doors are front-hinged.

Toyota Tundra crew max, my dad just bought one and it is amazing. Massive interior and hauls relatively well, not as good as the Avalanche, but good enough.

Should've waited - new avalanche coming next fall for the 2016 year.

Well if that is the case that is a great benefit for working for a Chevy dealer and I only leased the truck so in fall of 2016 I will only have 3 more months on my lease.

But like all things in my 11 years or working for Chevrolet until I hear the news from GM I don't believe it tell I see it.  If I believed everything I read online the Avalanche would have been gone back in 2005.  I sure do hope they bring it back and I think it would be a great move on GM's part and at that point I sure would be back driving an Avalanche again.  I have been very impressed with the new Silverado and it does great excellent MPG from the older 5.3L.

my dealer was the one who told me it was coming back. He said he had it on good authority. But, he could be wrong. ;)

Kind of agree with Avalance.  Back in the late '90's when GM was bagging the last of the "real" (read powerful RWD) Impalas, a dealer told us it was guaranteed the last year of the Impala SS was going to be made available with a six speed manual for its last hooray.  At the time, GM had been toying with it, there were articles in car rags at the time of an Impala with a 'Vette engine and six speed that GM had built and let them test drive.  Thing was AWESOME.   :B:  :drive:  Anyway, as I said, the dealer guaranteed me the General was going to make a limited run of them and to give him a shout in a few months.  Guess what.  It never happened.   Otherwise I would have bought one on the spot.

So, after hearing false guarantee after false guarantee from dealers, I am solidly in the "I'll believe it when it's on the showroom floor" camp.  I hope I'm wrong because, like most of us here, think the Avy is the best Automotive Swiss Army Knife going.  I hope they do it and do it right (read - the current Burban looks like a hearse )

2015 Tahoe LT. I have extensively testdriven the tahoe and I love how it drives. The interior is significantly improved, particularly with materials and the layout of the dashboard. I love how the navigation is higher up on the dashboard so I do not have to look down to check my position.

I rented it for a 1300 mile move and it was a pleasure to drive. It has a nice storage area in the back that can be a worthy replacement of the side storage of the avalanche.

I am looking at the LT because now many of the features I previously could only get with the LTZ are now available with the LT, especially with the luxury package. Plus the 2015 LTZ is way out of my price range... for um... cooled seats?

If GM would release a 2015 style avalanche in the future, I would definitely consider trading again!

My next vehicle changes regularly. Currently it would be a 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP and really make it a performer. Keep it N/A of course though. build up the motor to around 550-600 crank horsepower. Then lower it down a little and put a nice suspension on there. limited slip in the rear end with lower gears. keep it simple on the outside. make the inside as nice as I can get it. good set of sticky tires. nice set of rims on there- powdercoated black of course. and do a custom set of headlights and tail lights and other lighting.

2015 GMC Sierra Denali 1/2 ton 4X4 with the 6.2 V8. 420 HP/460 Torque AND 20 MPG highway? Sign me up.  (y)

But that being said, my 2003 Z71 4X4 only has 88,000 on the clock and still runs/drives like new. My only complaint is that it gets terrible MPG on the winter "Oxygenated" fuel we get out here, but even with that I just don't know when I'll ever be able to bring myself to part with it...

It gets that hi of mileage because of the new 8 speed tranny super low first speed and super duper hi gear.

That's sad but I thought wanted a truck not a fashion statement.

Don't dis the BMW as a fashion statement  >:D.  I'd likely never buy a new one because I won't own a vehicle without a dipstick (long story), but I do own an '01 325i that I love.  I ordered it new and very uniquely equipped - sport package, sunroof, cd player and rear fold down seats with a ski bag for our hockey sticks.  It has manual seats, no cruise control etc.  I wanted a rear wheel drive sports car with a manual transmission.  The rub was it needed four doors since my younger daughter had just been born.  It actually cost less than all the minivans we were looking at, and fortunately didn't buy, for my wife and it's an absolute blast to drive.

Now for the long story on the dipstick.  The yellow warning light for low oil often comes on when starting the car but then goes off after 1/2 minute or so.  I check the oil and make sure it's OK with that dipstick BMW so intelligently deleted .  Anyway, this started probably back around 2005 or so.  I'd take it to my mechanic for other maintenance/service.  He told me that the warning light was on and then off again but the oil level was good.  I have a bad sensor.  I asked him how much it cost and he replied around $500.  I looked him square in the eye and said "It has the best and functioning oil level sensor ever.  It's called a dipstick and I'm not afraid to use it."  He laughed and replied, "Yep, you're right.  But if that light ever turns red, pull over immediately.  That means no oil pressure, not low oil."  to which I replied "Duly noted".  This became an ongoing joke every time I had it in for service until one day after my "Duly noted" reply he told me that won't work with the new ones.  I asked "why not" and that's when he dropped the bombshell that they did away with the dipstick.  That was the say they lost me for a new BMW.  I am not leaving the life of my engine up to some over priced sensor that has tendency to go bad.

Back to the topic at hand.  The Bimmer and the Avalanche serve two entirely different purposes.  The Bimmer is my daily driver, blast of a machine to drive.  It's also my preference on back country twisty roads (assuming they're paved ).  Except for a few cases, it doesn't see snow, not because I'm afraid to drive it on snow but because I don't want to subject it to salt.  Yeah, even with snow tires it wouldn't be the best since I lowered it 1 1/2 inches and put an even sportier suspension on it when it was times for new shocks. The Avy on the other hand is the workhorse of the fleet.  It is our hauler, our puller, our camping vehicle and my winter ride.  It's a beast of a machine.

Yes I love them both in their own special ways.

Oh, and if the Bumblebee ever bit the dust, I would look for another used Avy to replace it.  If the Bimmer bit the dust, I would look for either a good used E36 ('91 - '99 3 series) or E46 ('99 - '06 3 series) or maybe a new Subaru WRX.

Actually like some of them, a 745i or a 3 series are cool, but I wouldn't trade a truck for it

You know, I was just busting your chops.  >:D  I agree, I wouldn't trade the Avy for one and vice versa.  They both serve separate and distinct functions for me.

A buddy of mine has a Z3 with a 5 series motor in it he calls it a Porsche Killer.
