Just wondering. Is this kind of like a club insignia, or does it actually improve visibility?

Thanks,
Chris

chris,

from the looks to the safety of the Amber colors. amber works so much better than the white especialy thru fog..it does not reflect back.

this is how we can also tell if your a CAFCNA member.

For me I notice the amber color faster than the white (safety), it looks a great deal better IMO and it is the insignia for the club ;D

It just looks better-I had changed mine before I found this Site-Just drive up to a vette and think what it would look like with white DRL's

IMO the ambers make the Av look a little more aggressive. Plus, with the HID upgrade, it gives it a cool look at night w/ the optional "on at night" switch installed for the DRLs. Although I've seen Avs in my area w/ the amber DRLs, are you members or copy-cats? Where's your club sticker? Another small idea for recognition.....

I like the look and I think the truck gets more attention. Of course it is always cool to spot a member coming down the freeway....

The ambers to me stands out. It looks better then the white.

As has already been said amber would be safer if you are in an area that is prone to fog, but it also has the added benefit of providing early recognition for fellow members.

I forget, could someone list again what the bulbs are, the product # and where you can find these. Thanks guys.

Well, while we are at it, we might as well have all relevant info together... does anyone remember where to find instructions for making them "always on"?

Thanks (y)

Ask our buddy Sands for instructions. Just skip the part about touching the battery terminals with the wrench...unless you are into fireworks >:D

Can Anyone Say!!!!!!!

Fire in the Hull. :) Sorry Sands had to do it.

To Do the Full Time DRL

Disconnect Neg Battery Cable.
Remove Fender Support.
Remove Box Covering Electrical Panel Near battery.
Rotate Fuse Block upwards.
Find Green Fuse Block. Unscrew with 7MM
Wiggle Free.
Remove Blue Lock'ins.
Remove the dbled up blue wires from the green block.
move them down one pin.
Reverse procedure.

For pics you'll have to find the thread.

good luck.

Don't even need to do a search on that one.

Just go to mod forum, and click on Skidd's FAQ sticky topic near the top of the list. The link to the topic is in there.

They make the truck standout even more! >:D

If you look around at other vehicles, most of the finer ones have amber drl's or housings.

Most of all I believe that it makes you visibily part of our site....which means if you run across any other members on the road..this is the easiest way to recognize eachother....can't spot a sticker doing 65 mph going toward you....

And also...Av's don't come out of production with them obviously..so any other Av's you might see on the road..might be curious as to why yours are amber and thiers are just white....use this as a good topic starter and you will find some more members coming around.... :B:

Will this work on the '03 AV also?
TIA for your help ;)

To me the Ambers define the shape of the housing better then the white lights do. It looks really cool when the Amber DRL's are on the same time the yellow lights above your head lights are one. There is uniformity. Four amber lights to me look better than 2 amber and 2 white.

My 2 pennies....

As for my personal opinion - aesthetically, amber DRL?s compliment black trucks! Although, I have experienced no improvements in terms of day time visibility...

Like the others, IMO ;D , they just look  way better. You do the Lo-Hi head light Mod and the full time (D)RL Mod you can run with 4 white lights and 4 amber on and be legal, at least here in California. So far I have not seen the ambers on an Av unless I was attending a gathering of the So. Cal. Chapter of this club. It's nice to be different, isn't that why we all bought :B: Av's?
