I came out one morning  and noticed some dripping, my hole front skid plate was full of pink fluid(trans/diff fluid I think) I can't see where it's coming from it looks like its dripping from above the front sway bar. Today on the way home I was going up a steep hill and rpms climed to 350O then shifted and service 4wd came on, that message always comes on when I press the 4wd button but never going up a hill, just need an idea wher to start looking before I start tearing it a part, thanks guys. 03 1500 z71

Red fluid usually means trans or power steering. But if you have aftermarket fluids thaT ARE RED?

Isn't the coolant pink

It's not coming from the trans, so I guess I'll start with the coolant, it wasn't leaking today. If it is coolant what kind of work am I going to get in to? I am not verry good with diagnosing problems but I have no problem fixing it!

Not sure what your shift problem is, but I think your water pump is leaking.

There is a small hole on the bottom of the water pump, just reach down there with your hand and feel around.

Red sounds like trans fluid,  you know where I live in Beamsville if you want to bring it here to look

It's not coming from the trans it's dripping from the water pump, are you the one on statlebauer? Because I am stoping by the Cambridge homes sight tomorrow around 10 am!!!!

I thought it was coolant coming out of the weep hole in the water pump. Wait till you try to change it.  >:D

OK make sure you get the right thread sealant for the bolts that go into the water jacket.

When I changed my pump I had 4 long metric set screws that I loosely put in mounting holes, hung the gaskets on them, then the pump. I put two bolts  in the remaining holes and snugged them. Used an allen wrench to remove the 4 set screws and replaced them with the factory bolts. Easiest pump I ever changed.

Good info carnut (y)

The sealant is everything if you want it to last another 100,000 miles again. Just trying to help another member
