I can't find Amber 4157's anywhere.. I've looked at Autozone, Napa and other auto parts stores and also looked at Walmart. Every place just has the 3157's. Is there any place online to buy these?

I put the Amber 3157's in for now and they look good. Is there much of a diference in brightness between the two??

Thanks,

I bought my set on eBay.

Noticed you are in Amesbury...nice town...taxes must kill you.

See you around, good luck.

Thanks guys.. I check out Ebay.. There's a seller that advertises 4157's along with other #'s in the description but when I clicked on it they only list 3157's in Amber. I sent them a note asking if they had 4157's in amber. Let me know if anyone else has any other suggestions where to find these.

The set I bought was labeled 3157NALL/4157NALL

As far as I know they are interchangeable and you shouldn't notice any difference between them.

More important than 3157 vs 4157 is to make sure they are the long life version (that's what the LL means at the end of the part numbers above.) I bought a set of the regular ones (just 3157 with no suffix), and they burned out after less than a year. The replacement LL ones are still going strong.

Also, the color of the regular vs long life bulbs are different. The LL ones were a little darker amber, and match the stock turn signal bulbs exactly. The regular bulbs I got the first time around were pale in comparison.

Also, when you replace the bulbs, put a little bulb grease on the contacts to prevent corrosion. (Small foil packets of dielectric grease are available at parts stores, ask at the counter.) I didn't do this the first time around, and had to clean the bulb socket contacts the second time around in order to get reliable operation.

Hope this helps!

All the ones I've bought are 3157/4157. A few sets at Pep Boys and last set much cheaper at AutoZone.
BTW that's 3157/4157NALL.

I've posted this before but it shows the diff between the bulbs...
My read on that chart is that the light output of 3157 and 4157 are the same. The big difference is that rated life of the 4157 is higher. Other than that, about the only other significant difference I see is the color and material of the plastic base.

So, when the package lists both 3157 and 4157, which is in there? I guess you could tell from te color of the base, but I'm too lazy to crawl under my truck and find out. Presumably, it would really be a 4157 in there? I suppose you could sell a longer life bulb as a shorter life replacement and not get anyone upset. But if you are packaging a shorter life bulb as a longer life one, that could be trouble.

So I guess the moral of the story is to look for the grey plastic base and the "LL" suffix on the bulb number.

I'm pretty sure my 3157/4157NALL's have a grey base.
