hey guys, where would i go about to purchase a 180 degree stat for the Av?

thanks...

oh btw, if search for hypertech on stylinconcepts, it will pop up the powerstats which is what you want , just make sure you say you have a silverado because they do not have them for the avalanche yet but they are the same exact thing. hope this help. Alex

oooppppps , forgot to log in.

If you live in a even semi warm climate, I would run the 160..Your engine will run about 178 to 183 with a 160 T stat.. I have checked mine many times with ATAP. The 180 is a waste in my opinion. It will lower your engine temp about 5 to 10 degrees at the most and that is not worth the 50 bucks.. The best prices I have seen on these for our trucks is about 50 bucks.. I think the 17 buck price is for the older trucks not the 3rd gens.

Thanks RedHawk - welcome to CAFC - your experience is welcome here - for the rest of you, this is the guy that kills mustangs at HRP - [video link on my website], more on his.

If we advance to "nitrous" for some of the more "hooked" this is the guy to talk to. ;D

Is there a need to alter the ECM for a lower temp thermostat as in earlier models? As I recall, engine would run in open loop with cooler therm.

If you run a 160 I think that you will need to reset the PCM - could force it into perpetual warmup - not a good thing. Don't take this as gospel - just an observation. :)

Sorry to say, but 180 thermostat isn't going to do much. Factory stat for Avalanche is engineered for 186 degrees.

Plus the new stat costs about $50, not $17 as someone said.

your neighbor, ron :)
