well i cant find a place at all to get my Cladding paited.. can anyone help me out? anywhere in VA MD and so on.. thanks!

Any body shop should be able to paint the cladding.....

they said it cant be painted. they said it will just peel right off

Just a suggestion.
See if you can find a shop that paints the fender flares that are installed on many 'regular' trucks. These are almost always black plastic and many folks get them painted to match the truck. That is how I picked out my guy.

Then, they need to sand, prime, sand, prime, have adhesive promoter in it and the paint, and also a flex agent in the paint.

My paint has been on about 2 years now, in Canadian winters , daily driver on one of the worst roads I know for sand and rock chips and the paint looks better than the paint on the metal.

go to another body shop...one with lots of cars out front....(they would be busy).....

They make paint for this stuff...and it works......

good luck

For those of you that have had your cladding painted....what kind of cost would someone be looking at to have their cladding painted??

I'm annoyed with the fading on my bed panels and thought about a paint job for them and maybe the rest of the cladding as well.

yeah i tryed most of the paint shops that i know around me and no body would paint it. they said if it peels off 2 days later they would not do anything..

Same BS I get from the shops around here, in SC. There is one custom shop..."American Luxury Coach" that talks even bigger BS by charging $3000 just to paint the little bit of cladding on a WBH AV. Thanks but no thanks.

so anybody know anything that can help me... anything around me or like 2 hours from me? thanks

I went to three body shops in New jersey and they all said that they can do it, and that they paint plastic all the time. Becuase a lot of new cars have painted plastic. The only thing is that it takes a lot of sanding to get the plastic really smooth. And make sure it is going to gets sanded! I saw one that someone just primed and painted and it looked horrible. The body shops said that high price to paint it is that it take 2-3 days just for the sanding.

yeah can u PM his #? thanks a bunch if he can do it this will make my day.

Hey crstal,

Do you have an update for us? I live in the DC metro area, and I'm very close to purchasing an Av. Whether I get the cladded model or WBH depends on if I can get the cladding painted.

Are you gonna go with Blue Avy's cousin? If so, how much is he asking?

??? ??? ???

I dunno what to tell u

This is very important.....Be sure that whatever body shop paints the cladding knows about the intense cleaning process that has to happen when painting the cladding. It seems like everbody is talking about the sanding. Well that is one important step. But the plastic had "Mold Releases" kinda like oils from when they were made. This will make the new paint just peel off if not removed properly.
