Which fan should I go with

Hi everybody, just bought a 2003 AV and I am planning on doing the E fan conversion. I have a harness from an 05 Tahoe plus the fans, I also have the fans from an 08 Escalade. Now my question is which fan should I use? One has a 7 blade with a 5 blade and the other has dual 7 blade. One other thing I might add is none of the videos I watched showed anything about taking the fuse box cover along with it, it has the fuse access cover on it might as well take it to make things easily accessible. I know it'll take more power to run, but I already did an alternator upgrade to 145 amps. I know some of the responses of fuel economy and hp may arise, I'm looking for the quietness of the engine bay aspect also

Lots of possible issues that are hard to answer with all the various year and models you are trying to piece together. Not sure when Tahoes and Escalades had their model/generation changes but best overall thing is to stay within same generation frame and electrical systems for less issues.
Assuming they all changed frames and generations in the same year they should be plug and play if 2003-2006 but 2007 and up is another generation at least in the AV world and you could have comparability issues with another gen parts and wiring.

As far as quietness in engine department you could swap out factory hood liner for a Dynamat sound deadening hood liner, it really quiets thing down especially in the cab.

Good luck with your mod.

I think you also need Computer programmed to turn fan on/off unless you control via after Market stuff.

Here's a wiring harness from Nelson Performance that ties into the ECM, but like ygmn says it will have to be programed/enabled to work, which Nelson Performance can do also..

Or a stand alone controller like this one I use.

There are many others out there..

Yeah, I'm trying to set up an appointment to get it reprogrammed. Just haven't heard back

I got the wiring from the 05 and installed that already, I believe that the factory one would be better

Just a FYI if you get into those 7 or 9 blade fans they have a 700 watt motor which draws 55-56 amps all by itself the 5 blade motor is 500 watts which draw 41-42 amps.

I just have the fans from the 08 escalade, the wiring harness was different, as in the way it was tied into the fuse box and not a stand alone Luke the 05 Tahoe one is

Well that is the type of information I needed and actually for some odd reason didn't think of, Thank you very much. My thoughts were more focused on sound, guess I was having tunnel vision. I tend to pay attention to ALL my gauges and I'll be paying attention a little bit more to the voltage drop now, then determine if I need a higher amp alternator. The one I just bought is a 145 amp

I think you may be ok with the 5 blades, but you may have a voltage drop if you are driving under 45mph with the headlights on and the AC on you'll probably see a voltage drop. Above 45 the pcm turns off the cooling fans.

Ps as long as you have not other electrical toys like a stereo

I have a PowerMaster 225 amp alternator on mine and have never had a problem, volt meter never even twitches.. The 145 amp should be fine unless you add a thumping stereo like MS03 2500 said..

Well then I should be good, there's really no need for a thumping system when all you do is listen to country and rock. Lol
