Ok, the AV replaced my last truck which got stolen and taken to mexico never to return (mexican border patrol caught it coming through the border beat to hell)... today on TV they announced that the chevy pickup is the most stolen vehicle, which prompted me to ponder....
Which is more likely to have stolen, the cladded AV or the WBH?
Just wondering if anyone knows.

Well after having 5 Avalanches stolen in the last 4 months from El Paso,
I have done some more checking.

I am really looking into this. Onstar and this along with the fuel and starter cutoff I have now I think I will sleep better.

I can not sleep at night very well because a friends Av was taken Saturday night from a best buy here in El Paso and from that store to the Mexico line is about 5 miles. From my house to the line is about 8 miles.

I can not wait to get out of this place.

I'm curious what everyone else has done to their Av's to deter theft? Alarms aren't worth what you pay for em these days, in my opinion.

It may be because the AV is so easy to get into. All it took was was a screwdriver underneath the doorhandle housing to get into mine. :8: :8: The pricks didnt steal it but got off with my checkbook, cd's, and a tv.

Tell me it aint so :6: Sorry to hear this :C:

Curious. Will your insurance pay for the mods too, or are they goingto be a loss? ??? :6:

I hope they do for his sake, but...

I was mis-informed by my agent when I moved to AZ, and was told as long as they do not cost more then the truck itself they are covered... when my truck got ripped off.. I was told this was not true.... lost $8grand worth of mods.... so unless you pay extra to insure aftermarket equipment... more then likely they won't..... :C:

Thanks for all the kind words of concern guys!

As for insurance......we'll see. We sent off a package to State Farm friday loaded with pictures and receipts. We should hear something this week.

That is horrible news :( I wish you the best.

I worry about mine all the time. I have an eloborate alarm going into mine before my wheels get here. I hope it does the job its susposed to do.

WesTexavy,

From one fellow Texan to another, I am sorry to hear about the loss buddy. I swear to god, If I caught anyone in the act I would either go to jail, or probably get shot trying to stop them. The time and energy we put into this vehicle makes it a part of us!

I really hope your insurance hooks you up. If it is State Farm, I would be very interested to know what happens since I use them as well.

Your truck was Modded to the bone! If it is not to much to ask, what type of alarm did you have on your AV? Did you have Onstar?

If you don't want to answer them then that is fine.

Again, hope they catch em and I am truely sorry.
