Whining noise from steering column

I was wondering if anyone had had the same thing happen to them. I hear a whining noise coming from the steering column. At first I thought maybe it was the speedo, but it is now doing it when I first start my truck. I willbe calling the service dept. in the morning. I hate dealing with them,because they treat me like I am stupid because I am a female.

is it a short whining noise that only happens every so often, particularly when turning slowly?

If yes, then there are reports of this (mine does it) and it is something in the recip/ball steering box for which GM does not yet have a solution/TSB.

If it's a more constant noise then it sounds like something different.

Rich, her whining noise is different than the one you're thinking of. Hers is from the steering column when the truck is started and yours is from the passenger seat and only makes noise on the way to the furniture store.

Don't mind Joe, gyeso, he can't help it he's a plumber [complete with hairy back and perpetually exposed crack ]

Either way, I'd take it in to the dealer and see what they say
