Who has the most miles on their 07+??

I just rolled 273,000, and I would offer you one bit of advise !!

Get yourself a range module and that truck will run forever..   If I had disabled AFM on mine I would still be going strong without
an engine overhaul..  My transmission was like new, And the internals on the engine were too.  Only thing that failed was the stupid AFM lifter.
After 259K miles the cylinder walls only needed to be honed, not bored, and we rebuilt the engine with the original size bearings as the
all checked out at original spec..  The guy said the engine would have gone 500K miles based on the shape it was in overall.  It was killed
by the active fuel crap..  Disable it now before you have the problem !!

(y)
the main issue is the lack of oil changes you need to do them very frequently  with AFM  every 3,000( 4-4500 with the larger filter) miles (Full synthetic )  once the oil starts getting dirty it gets clogged  since it relies on the OIL pressure to work correctly   and Clean OIL is a must  Also using the LARGER sized oil filter will help keep it clean  (Yes a larger sized filter is available )

What's the Delco number for the larger filter????

Sorry folks, Been busy and haven't posted for a while...

315K miles...

No issues...

Just an update..

New true duals from the headers back and new stainless tips..  The others had been on there for the full 314K..

Thinking about a steel cowl hood now....

194k and going strong. Just have to fix oil pan gasket & oil filter adapter gasket.

now if I could only find out what happen to my auto ride thing it would be great.

168k miles and tons of problems:

1. Oil consumption starting at 50k. Used a quart of oil BETWEEN oil changes. GM suggested we "watch" it for 4 oil changes. They ended up replacing a piston bank....and 4 months later ended up replacing it again. Now they're suggesting I replace the engine.

2. Replaced the throttle body after they cleaned it.
3. Replaced a transmission fluid switch, located in the transmission pan....After driving it home that night, I had a puddle of fluid (I think it was transmission) on my garage floor. Took it back the next day and the dealer "couldn't find any leaks".

4. Replaced an engine motor mount, which I think was destroyed by the dealer upon doing the earlier engine work.

5. Replaced a battery and the dealer told me that it was causing several issues at once which included: 1) clicking noise around the steering column area; 2) the Park assist light steadily lit; 3) the rear view camera not working; 4) The Drive position indicator light (the one that tells you if you're in Park, Drive, etc) not working. This has happened twice.

6. Radio popping once I start the vehicle; Also the side mirrors would go up and down on their own.

7. Engine stuttering while accelerating. The dealer blamed that on 1) spark plugs needing replacing...did that...didn't work; 2) motor mount needing replacing because it's causing the engine to stutter....replaced that....didn't work; 3) Transmission fluid switch.....replaced that....stuttering stopped some but now it's causing the whole engine to make a squeaking noise while in reverse....now they're blaming that on the entire engine.

8. Minor stuff is probably what everyone is experiencing, like: 1) peeling steering wheel; 2) cracking dash board;

The list goes on and on. Anyone else having similar issues?
Sounds like dealership didn't know what they were doing, I'm having many of the common problems found on 07 models. Luckily saving thousands doing work myself. YouTube has many helpful videos most 5.3 gm similar parts & processes for repair.

Mine is in the 160k range I bought from a used dealer gave 30days warranty took 3 times for oil leak they screwed off & wiped it clean telling a story each time checking they hadn't done anything. I did get them to replace drivers seat because adjust motors were bad. Should have fought in court the oil leak issue as by time I diagnosed the rear main seal they argued past their warranty & they would half cost of repairs at some side mechanic shop? I never thought to make them give receipts proving I returned 3 times for oil leak inside their warranty period.
Anyway I did rear main seal myself, as driving went many smaller issues found, the break sensor was faulty(cruise control wouldn't activate). I chased idle issues & abs stabilitrak lights intermittent.
Replaced battery, gas pedal, throttle body, and many other things.
Found the biggest problem causes were, grounds to frame all needed cleaning & tightening, the driver side valve cover needed upgrade oil pcv hole, added oil catch cans both sides pcv valve cover lines, my ac-delco spark plugs melted? Idk how but that wasn't fun figuring out thought of burning the truck until figured it out... recently replaced fuel pump, & as many sensors as possible to be sure computer system gets correct readings. Have intake manifold off today after seeing you tube video shows vlom? (Active Fuel Management solenoid plate) bolts were not torqued well enough? Factory? 11 total 13mm bolts there were 8 on mine I could remove with fingers only 4 were seated holding it.
I'm sure that was leaking oil slowly aswell, hopefully I saved mine from the lifters collapse/valve problems.
Torqued them back down & finishing seals as put back together. New fuel injectors since have manifold off.
I do have to replace dust covers on 4x4 axles leaking oil/grease starting to crack, replaced steering shaft dust cover recently.
Even with the many small issues I've had to figure out & fix its never broken down always made it back to try another part.
Utility of truck with space & storage I love carry tools, & gear to be prepared for almost anything 😀.
Room for my family & easily tows our trailer. I enjoy figuring out the workings of the truck, I'm also able to clean and degrease parts mechanics never do. I hope to upgrade & keep this truck as long as possible.

Before & after cleaning & tightening loose AFM plate bolts. Glad i saw video showing many of these bolts either never got torqued enough or just came loose over time? But finding as many loose on my 2007 lt 5.3l I believe maybe factory defect all those bolts started not well enough torqued. 🤔 just a theory I recommend any avalanche owners check it soon before your engine suffers lifter problem/ engine failure?

My 07 Avy has 337k but I don't have one of those success stories like others on this site. I'm on my 3rd tranny, the rear end was replaced around 180k. The engine is still kicking but I have the dreaded AFM mess which I've had since I bought it. The lifter is ticking pretty bad and it's developed a bad miss...it sets off the check engine light and the traction control light. I'm pretty impressed that this truck still gets 17 mpg which is half highway/city due to the truck missing so bad. If this truck didn't have the AFM like the previous years it would be running great! It's too bad GM ruined this engine with this faulty engineering.

343,000 here. Same engine . Change that oil every 3K and she'll treat you right.

Went to a tuner to have AFM turned OFF (whatever it was called, it basically runs 8 mode all the time). He also deleted the speed limiter setting as well.

For shoes, if you live in a rainy part of the nation, I highly recommend NITTO 420(T or V)....the ones with the big groove in the center of the tread going around. No hydroplaning now and they wear very nicely.

I've had these issues before. I have learned that it's not always the CODE that is the problem. For example, a bad negative grounding cable can, and will, cause various errors to pop up like P0430 (catalytic not performing up to snuff) and knock-sensor code (high signal)...for some reason when I took care of the grounding wire issue, those two codes magically disappeared.

As for your AFM, take it to a tuner (my guy tweaked some things with an HP tuner) and have them turn off that V4 mode. It's a "soft" fix instead of going through the lifters and doing an AFM (VVT) delete like one would typically do when putting in a heavier cam. Of course, you can do that too.

Another thing on the lifter I discovered was that there is a newer valve cover design that has a different "port" that adjusts some of the oil-bathing issue that was somehow related to the ticking lifters.... you can do those easily yourself...super easy.

I had the traction control / service CEL thing before too. I have never had any work done on mine I found there to be other things that can trip that one with a false-positive.

All in all, I would get another one. Mine is '07 LMG, 343K miles. Change that oil every 3-5K and it'll last a long time. I do not baby mine at all even with those high miles, it runs great. 5W Valvoline blend (red bottle) is what I use. The one for high-mileage but I'm not sold that really means sh**.

Can you elaborate on these two things?
Pictures can show better + explaining.
Pcv lines were pulling engine oil out valve covers & sending it into air intake manifold to burn oil through engine.
I added catch cans on both pcv vaccume lines to help keep oil out of air/fuel mixture.
The electronic systems are sensitive in these trucks & the ground points corrode or just make less electronic contact over time. Mine I had to unbolt sand, wire brush, to bear clean meatal then re attach. I should paint or wax spray as already I'm getting rust & new corrosion.

The computer systems showed codes for diminished communication multiple systems & sensors. Before multiple failures chased single sensors & codes all ground connections said were bad.
Parts most are good & saving if needed future repair.
Added additional ground points & wires, also additional ground straps engine/transmission to frame. Hopefully additional grounds can be fail-safe help keep system running smoothly.

Sorry for all thoes issues,, my dad was mechanic all his life,, he lived out in the country,, retired from a dealer ship, and when he left,, alot of people followed him ,, he did credit, pay when you can,, given he had no problem with people paying,, even if was only like 10 or 20 dollars,, he was the best around,,grhs,, Jeff
