I want to put an SS front & rear bumper on my 04 WBH AV. I've looked at this site for months and cannot locate anyone who's actually done it. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Some of the Chevrolet dealers I've talked to say it will not work, others say maybe with some bracket help.

Thanks for your help. ;) 04avalanche

I am doing this right now,I got the SS front cover from dealer had to make a few minor mods but no big deal.If you buy from dealer you have to buy the ducts seperate.Stillen has a bumper cover on thier web site has the ducts and bumper as all one piece, they told me it was held on with double sided tape...The factory one you take off the bottom valance and fog lights and it attaches into the holes for the valance .Mine cover is being painted now I'll take some pics if you want of before and after. Thanks for the quick reply. I've looked into several internet GM wholesale parts suppliers on the net. They all want a fortune for shipping. The last time I looked I was going to pay around $1000 parts & shipping for the front ss bumper and around $800 for the rear ss bumper. Do these numbers mesh with yours? Also, did you do the rear bumper as well?

Yes, I'd appreciate seeing your pictures.

Do you know stillens web address? Thanks! ;D

I paid $300.00 for the SS front bumper and 150.for the ducts the only other thing you might need is the lower grille or an aftermarket one.You have to have it painted.I should have mine back by the weekend, then I'm going to lower it and new wheels and tires with the cowl hood should look SS like...

Fatboy, I thought I needed the bar, filler, brackets, ducts, and the bumper fascia. Are you saying that I only need the bumper fascia & ducts? If so, are these the right part numbers.

Ducts 12335767 & 12335766
Bumper fascia 12335659

Are you doing the SS rear bumper as well? If so, do you know what I need there as well?

Thanks.

To those who are interested, Fatboy says all you need is the bumper fascia & ducts. Part numbers listed above. He said the new cover has tabs on the top of it that you'll need to cut off so that the cover fits flush. He dosen't think you need anything else. You'll need to remove the valance & fog lights to put the new cover on, but that's about it. I'm ordering my parts tomorrow.

We'll both try & post pictures when we're finished.

Good Luck!

We'll update thread on rear SS bumper once we get it figured out.

SWEET!! I love the hood too. What kind is it? I would go for the bumper if not for the protection chromed steel offers in NY- My bumper would look like hell in no time!

Fatboy, can you post a picture of the rear bumper? Are any other parts besides the rear bumper cover needed? If so, can we have those part #'s please?-Thanks.

I have not done the rear, 04 avalance has those part # needed

What additional parts and #'s would one need? I am also trying to get this mod done. What about the lower grill and duct grills? Not to mention the SS grill. Isn't it different than the regular one? Thanks in advance.

THE ONLY OTHER PART THAT YOU YOU'D NEED WOULD BE FOR THE GRILLE. I HAD ALEADY PUT A CARRIAGE ONE IN SO IN DIDN'T ORDER ONE WHEN I PUT THE SS BUMPER FASCIA ON. I'M NOT A 100% SURE, BUT I THINK THE BOTTOM GRILLE PART NUMBER IS #1235765. PERSONALLY, I DO NOT THINK YOU NEED ANY GRILLE AT THE BOTTOM. FOR THE RECORD - I, (04AVALANCHE) PUT THE FOG LIGHTS BACK INTO MY DUCTS & I HAD TO TRIM THE DUCTS. I BELIEVE FATBOY LEFT HIS FOGS OUT. I'LL TRY & POST PICTURES OF MY BUMPER THIS WEEK.
SEE YA! :D

Any thoughts? Heck, I think it looks awesome!!! (y) (y) (y)

(fatboy's looks great, too! Didn't want you to feel left out. ;) )

Fine looking Avy with all those exterior mods, including the body color mirror inserts, door handles, moulding, and fender flares. Looks real nice with all the coordinated pieces.

Keep up the good work!

Regards,

-Joe

Thanks, I do appreciate the feed back. Fatboy talked me into the cowl hood so that's next with a Escalade roof rack. Will post new pictures soon. Thanks again! ;D

I'm looking into doing much of the same, also looking to add EXT rear upper cladding. Already have the tailgate pieces and chrome handle. The set is on ebay for $135. Adding the stainless steel OEM rails this wkd.

What do you plan to do about the rear bumper? I was thinking of just having it painted to match (if that's possible) or adding the suburban painted one.

I'VE LOOKED AT SAND BLASTING MINE & PAINTING IT AND THE BLACK PIECE OF CLADDING ABOVE IT. THEN I'VE LOOKED AT PUTTING A TRUE SS BUMPER ON IT, PAINTED TO MATCH AND LEAVING THE BLACK PIECE ON IT. THERE'S ANOTHER THREAD ON THE "SS BUMPER" THAT SHOWS A WHITE AV WITH THE REAR "SS BUMPER" ON IT. THE SS BUMPER IS A LITTLE WIDER, BUT IT LOOKS GOOD WITH THE BLACK CONTINUATION TO THE TAILGATE PIECE. THE PROBLEM IS THE COST. BOTTOM LINE IS I'M NOT SURE YET, BUT I'M NOT GOING TO LEAVE IT LIKE IT IS.

'04 offers the painted rear option.

Tahoe/Suburban bumper is the same, those can also be found in a paintable form rather than chrome. Saves the hassle of stripping the plating before paint.
