Why Darker Cladding?

What do you think is the reason for the darker cladding on the 2003 model? I don't have any complaints about the current color. What is the Generals thinking? KBB has a great picture of the new blue with the darker cladding under the 2003 price section.

So what is that on the roof above the passenger side windshield, opposite the OnStar antenna?

The optional XM radio antenna.

I too liked the way it was....It looks cool being a sort of two-tone paint job. I ordered an '03 in black. I sure hope that you will be able to see the difference between the black and dark charcol. If you can I think it is going to look a lot more aggressive looking....guess I'll have to wait until the first club memeber posts his new 03 pic...I wonder who will be the first?

Wouldn't the two antennas look better on the back part of the roof rather than on the front?

That XM Radio antenna is butt ugly. I would never have that installed if that is the only mounting position.

I have to agree with bfron. Back when I was looking at the '02, I was going to go for Pewter but I didn't think that would look as good with the darker '03 cladding.

But on the darker colors it's like dang... that looks soooo sexy. :B:

I have an '02 Indigo Blue and always liked the contrast, but I do like the pic of the Arrival Blue with the darker cladding. I wouldn't HAVE that XM antenna, is that thing on Caddies? AND THEY NEED TO RENAME THE CLADDLESS AVALANCHE SILVERADO EXT OR SOMETHING, THAT'S NO AVALANCHE!!!

Matches better with new blue, yellow, white. Heck looks better on all colors. Good job Chevrolet. Now if we can get rid of the cladding on the sides it would be perfect.

It does keep door dinges away, but in my opion the av would be awesome with the side cladding removed. It's just too much plastic on a vehicle that costs $30-$40k. Maybe they can lower cladding a few inches. That would be good. :B:

I think the darker cladding looks really good! as long as the '04 models don't have black cladding i'll stay happy.

TONGTP, do u still have ur 2003 AV on order or are u holding out for mid cycle change where cladding will be an option ???

I still do have my 2003 AV on order. When I ordered my Av the dealer told me the cladding on the sides will be gone. Got the same answer when I called Chevrolet, they said front and rear of vehicle will be same and sides will have nothing. Now it looks like a frickin silverado with a midgate :8: I like the yellow or the new blue with cladding. If I go with blue can get now, but if I want yellow I will have to wait again untill Feb or March :8:. I has been waiting since Feb of this year, I am going nuts!
