Why oh why did this have to happen to me now?  :needhug: :needhug: :needhug: :needhug: :needhug:

My plans for making it to the GTG in Madison are quickly falling apart.
This is what my girlfriend did to the Audi this morning.

The worst part is that she left it there and got a ride home. :needhug:
I drove over to see for myself on my lunch hour.
So this evening after work I got to figure out how to get it home and assess the damage
I can already tell I need a new bumper as the mounts held and the bumper ripped off in those pics.

OH NO! But you weren't driving the Audi down anyway were you?

I have to say that it never would've happened if it was lifted

It sounds to me like you need to relieve some stress and frustration on some trails in KY.

Got it home last night and did some damage assessment.
There were 4 screws mounting the bumper to the wheel well.
Those broke off
There were also points where the bumper clipped into the front fender to line up perfectly and those got ripped right off.
In addition, there are some inner bumper mounts on the passenger side that broke as well.

Upon closer inspection, the real reason for all this I noticed comes from the fact that somewhere during my ownership of the vehicle and at one of my visits to get the oil changed, some id10t removed the 3 bolts that held the bottom of the bumper lip to to the plastic protective tray under the car and never put it back. Thus the rear lip of the bumper was hanging freely causing it to hook onto the curb when she backed out.

I never changed the Audi's oil myself as it requires a special oil drain tool that I never got around to buying so I've never been under there till now.

There are 2 options for me here now.

1. I'm thinking that since all the broken pieces are inside the bumper and away from view, I might be able to take the bumper off one weekend and do some plastic welding and finally strengthen things with 3M flexible bumper repair.

2. I got a guy in WI who has an A4 in his backyard that has the same paint code as mine. Met him on craigslist a couple of months ago and made the 10 hour drive there and back to swap my hood with his after I got some hail damage on mine. I called him up and fortunately he still has the bumper on the car and is asking a relatively reasonable price.

I'm thinking after the GTG (I'm still coming BTW) and can make a detour on my way back home and pick up his bumper.

Option 1 is still a lot cheaper although a bit more time consuming also if I can get it done just the way I am thinking in my head, it would be just like new
Therefore I am considering my options

(y)

And I'd do option 2....I'm not a fan of plastic welds as they never seem to work as well as 'new'.  But that's just me.

West Ellis.
2 hour detour I believe so It'll add 4 hours to my route home if I decide to go get it.

wish you would have poseted that sooner, I could have brought it here for you.
