Looking for someone to coordinate and lead a Friday day-time activity, for those that will be there.

Some general guidelines:
  • Be back by about 5pm.
  • Virginia City is already planned for Saturday, so don't do that.

PM either myself or NvBigDogs with info.

Ok people we will be CarAVaning to Donner Park.
We will all meet up outside the Hotel ( Grand Sierra ) at 10:00 AM this will give the Utah and Idaho group a little time for sleep since they are rolling in at night.


So here it is folks
10:00 AM meet in parking lot for safety , check radios and line up
10:30 AM Leave Grand Sierra parking lot and travel to Truckee CA.
11:15 AM or so arrive at Truckee CA. and Lunch
12:30 PM Donner Museum and trails
2:30  PM Gather in Donner parking lot ,line up and head back to Reno
3:30  PM arrive in Grand Sierra parking lot


Lunch is not being provided. You are on your own there.
Truckee is a small town and has three fast food places
A subway
McDonalds
Dairy Queen
so if you do not want to stay with the group that is fine but we will have to pick out a meet up spot for 12:30. It would help to know where the majority want to eat and we can have that as the designated meet spot .


Here is a link to Donner Memorial Park take the time and look at the pictures and trails etc. A very good idea is to bring along a coat or sweater because the climate there is very unpredictable and could be very cold or even get a dusting of snow.
Elevation is 5187 feet.

To those attending I would like to know if you would like to do a cruise around Donner Lake or at least a bit of it. I think we can fit it in and I personally think it would add to the overall experience. We could run part of Lake shore rd. Speak up and let me know and I will get on setting it up.
Do not be shy speak up I need input.

Now that Wild West is a Dutch GTG, I think you can do whatever you would like.  We don't need to be back at any certain time for any activity - we can lounge around Donner Lake area for Dinner if we want.  You can make whatever route you would like.

Oh, and Thanks for your help on this.

for those wondering I said since Skip blasted the train horns on the Pearl while I was standing beside him ( the Pearl) he did not get killed but his where abouts remain a mystery  :laugh: :laugh:

Hey Aussie - See ya Friday Morning!  We're going to be there Thursday night so if you're around, give us a call and we can hook up for dinner or sumthin.
 
We should have an attending list in the first post showing Friday attendees Chris

So far we are in
 
Due to traffic conditions on I-80 the route into Donner has been amended

If you are coming up Friday...we leave the Hotel at 10AM and are going a back route into Donner

From Reno we are taking 395 North to 70 West into Vinton
Then 49 South into Sierraville
Then 89 South into Truckee
Then 80 West into Donner

Hope to see you there  We hope to arrive at Truckee for lunch between 12 and 1 PM

and arrive at Donner about 2:30PM
