Now that's we've crused around Donner Lake on Friday (Honey, You look delicious!), and "struck it rich" at bowling, what's better then spending the next day on a Poker Run Cruise!

NvBigDogs has set a cruise around to Virginia City.  Linky Thingy -> Virgina City

Details of the cruise will be provided later.

Lunch is on your own, but we will be stopping for lunch somewhere - exact place TBD.

This will also be a Poker Run with 5 stops.  We will be playing by "5-card Stud" rules.  Suits do not matter.

  • At each stop, you will draw a card to be added to your hand.  We will mark the card on a Master Sheet but you will keep the card.
  • We will lay out the cards face down in a pile and you will draw one and show it to the Master Sheet Tracker (ie - me.)
  • You will get a total of 5 cards, one at each stop.  If you miss a stop, that's your issue - we will not allow you draw more than one at any other stop.
  • Prizes will be awarded at the Saturday Night Dinner.
  • The Master Sheet is the sole and final determiner of each persons hand, regardless of what you are actually holding.  Period.

Prizes will be awarded in cash for First, Second, and Last places.  So a bad hand can win too - don't throw it away.  Exact prize amounts will be determined based upon the number of people entered.

If more than one person has an equal winning hand, that prize will be split between all people with that equal hand.  Remaining hands will be continue to be awarded in order.
Example: If 2 or more people have a Royal Flush, they will split the First prize cash equally.  The next person with a straight flush or 4 of a kind will receive the full Second prize.

Each Registered Avalanche (ie, first attendee) will receive 1 (one) Poker Hand as part of their registration. Additional hands may be purchased at the first stop only for $5 per hand.

(There will be no raffle this year.  The Poker Run is in lieu of a raffle.)

Just a bump to let you know that the Poker Run is still on.  Given that there is no registration fee now, you will need to buy your hands separately.  All other rules apply.

But I thought I'ld get your input on prize levels.  I still want to do 1st, 2nd, & last.  How about 70/20/10?  or 50/30/20?  Or other thoughts?

I think I'm gonna go 70/20/10.  That way, the worst hand should at least get their money back (presuming we have 10 hands).  We'll work out the exact details when we get there.

Oh, and I had set aside some slightly used cards to use for the poker run.  But my daughters got ahold of them decided to play with them.  I found all of them except the J of clubs - which I found later all crumbled up in the trash!  So now I'll be bringing BRAND NEW decks to play with.  (Don't worry - we go thru poker cards here like toilet paper - I buy them by the case!)

Okay, Rules above apply.  But here's how it is going to work.

  • Hands are $5 each.
  • Hands will be sold at the Cruise Assembly Area at the Grand Sierra Resort Parking Lot prior to the Poker Run ONLY!  No hands will be sold once the Poker Run is in progress.  (Please don't ask later and make me be a bad guy.)
  • There will be a maximum of 52 hands sold.  Once all 52 are sold, that's it - no more will be sold.
  • You may buy as many hands as you wish until all hands are sold.
  • Your name will be recorded on the Poker Run Master Sheet by the Poker Run Administrator (ie, ME).  It is your responsibility to make sure that your name is recorded correctly.
  • At each stop, you will come to the Poker Run Distribution Desk to draw a card to be recorded for that stop.  IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBLITY TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU DRAW A CARD AND IT IS NOTED ON THE POKER RUN MASTER SHEET.  If you don't draw a card at a particular stop, you will not be able to get a "make up" card for that stop.
  • Only 1 card per hand will be allowed per stop.  No extra cards will be distributed and no "catch up" cards will be allowed.
  • If you purchased multiple hands, the cards will be drawn in the order of the hands purchased, ie. The first card drawn will go to the first hand and first hand ONLY, the second card will go to the second hand, etc.  You will NOT get to choose which hand any particular card goes to.
  • There will be total of 5 decks.  Only 1 deck will be used for each stop (thus, no more than 52 hands available for sale.).  No Jokers will be included.  Any remaining cards from that deck after all cards have been distributed will be discarded and not allowed back into the hands.
  • The decisions of the Poker Run Administrator (ie, ME) will be FINAL!

If I've left out any important rules for the Poker Run, let me know.  If you have any questions, let me know.  If you don't get a winning hand, don't let me know!  >:D
