After winching a Dodge Dakota out of the mud with my '03 Honda Foreman 450ES, Warn 3.0, and 27" ITP 589's, I think I'd like to put a winch on my Av. I'd prefer the front hitch setup, so I could move it to the back in a pinch, but a hidden installation would work for me. Has anyone done either of these installations on their 1500 Av? I'm looking at the possibility of a suspension lift and 315 BFG's, too, but that's #2 on my list. (If I get the winch, I can at least get out of trouble...until I get the over-confidence that comes with the tires and lift, and then I can REALLY get in trouble....)

Life is best spent in four wheel drive!

I am also interested in knowing about this.  I have a warn xd9000i that I took off my 03 silverado and would like to be able to use it on the Av on front or back.

I also am planing on a winch.
What I have seen for the AV so far is stelth bumper
(sweet but$$$)
Hidden hich has some nice componets.
But need to fab somthing up (probly what I will do)

other options  ;offroadtechinc,Roadarmor, randyellisdesign
and just this past week ran across a sweet looking tubular bumper for the AV cant find the link right now.

I like the ability of moving the winch from the front to back just in case.

I know that WARN makes a front hitch setup for the AV, it goes on via the tow hook mounts. I have a MileMarker E12000 on my AV, but I have that tucked away inside off a SOR bumper. SOR is a company that makes Offroad Steel Winch Bumpers, very nice, strong and durable ;D. Here's a website so you can get one if that is your thing:

Otherwise get the Warn Front Reciever hitch, it is a great product as well, and many members have purchased it. There should be a thread on them around here.

Cordova, I have an 02 AV with 6" RCD lift and 34" tires. The SOR bumper is a great thing to have offroad. It has 2 places to attach 3/4" D Shackles, and if you don't want to have the winch behind the bumper you have a 2" reciever built into the bumper for an external winch or whatever else. I'm happy with mine, I can send some pics for you if you want to see one.

SRFNSNO, If you are thinking about a RoadArmor bumper, I'd suggest getting an SOR, cause an RA bumper will cost you 2X-3X more than an SOR. Also BIGRED Z71 makes tubular Pre-runner style guards for the AV. He can put light mounts and a winch mount on it for you. Plus it is around $800 compared to $1600 for an SOR and $2400-$3000 for an RA.

Hope this helps.

Thanks james21 :  (y)

Had been on that site but missed the link too the reciver mount.

Going to order one after work today.

Also that 9.5ti winch looks sweet.

One of these days, I will get to see your AV. ( GTG )

I have the warn mount for the 2" receiver on my cladded ''02-It fits good-you need to make a 2" hole in the bumper just below the license plate-It does not look bad. I use it for my snow sport plow, my bike rack, and sometimes to move a trailer into a tight spot -no problems.

Well if you can make it upto the CT GTG this weekend, I'll be there, otherwise it will have to be in June at Niagara, cause I can't make the Bowling Green GTG, its too far to drive, and takes too much time. Furthermore there is no way I can get my necessary repairs done in time.

-James.

Yea glen hit me up today about the GTG this weekend.

But Goinging Boarding next weekend.

Suppossed to snow fri & sat would love to make the drive.
and sun need to mount my NEW Front Reciver.

Hope it comes wit hardware. (y)

Will count on seeing you in Niagara. Cool

Your options are a tad limited it you have a cladded Av.

Check out Road Armor - they have a great product.  It's a replacement metal bumper for the Av that would support a winch.  Wraps around like the cladding, spots for you to put fog lamps and DRLs*

* You would not be able to use your stock housings but replace with after market fog lamps and swap out the bulbs on the DRL one to something with less output...

Just got in: instaled my New Front Reciver (waren)

Cost under $190 Took little over 2 hr to install with my 3 year old as helper.

Had to drill 4 holes (7/16") in frame rails.  Also cut a 3" wide slot under license plate for Reciver to stick through.

And I got Pics. Need to save and resize. (y)

Instales with 3 metric wrenches 10mm,17mm,19mm
Used a open and socket of each.

sorry to bring up an old post, but would still like to see your pics on this install and any input you have on how the hitch is working.

Thanks!

I have pics at home: will see if I get time to post them when I get home.

Chk in the EXT setion there is a thread going on there bout a front receiver.
