Windshield Wipers Hit Hood When Lifted

i just finished washing my av, like everyday when i get home and I gouged some black onyx paint off the back of my hood-------Beware of the windshield wipers---if you try to fold them back to get a clear shot at washing the windshield ? ?THEY HIT THE HOOD ?my old k-5 let you fold the wipers back to a "parking "spot ?even if I flip the avs blade back to let the edge rest on the windshield i'm still rubbin the hood I think I,m gonna make some spacer blocks between the wiper ARM ?and the cowl to hold the blade off the windshield so I can clean it right. ? ?ps a pep boys {not swiped from a gas station ) ?squeege lets me get the whole windshield from the ground. cause I have a hard time trying to get the whole windshield from the running board

i goofed on the topic nameat first but now what do you all do to keep from scratching the hood? I m using a piece of strofoam from an carton to hold them off when i wash the w/shield im thinking of putting rubber strips along the back edge of the hood like the doors have on their edge

Well... I just lifted my wipers and they won't go back far enough to hurt the hood. I gotta hold 'em up to clean the windshield though.

I like the ones on my T/A. They lock up outta the way for easy windshield cleaning. Plus, it looks like a spaceship when left up... >:D
 
av nut I just figured out if i turn on the wipers,, time it justright, and turn off the key, I can stop the wipers all the way to the drivers side now the are easy to pull away from the windshield, and the passenger side is wide open. I m goin on a trip,not wild west----I wish... so when I go to a gas station and use a squeege, im gonna do the wiper trick so I can clean the whole w/shield
 
STILL GOT THE HABIT TO TURN OFF IGNITION SWITCH TO GET WIPERS TO THE LEFT FOR CLEANING.... YOUTRY IT YET??
