I had an 03 liberty, While it was nice and got around well It was too small to be practical for a daily driver for me. I really didn't enjoy fighting over the center console for an armrest. I have an 89 xj now but sadly it has yet to run since I bought it.

As before, most likely not. We no longer need a high cargo capacity, several passenger, longer distance cruiser. We maintain three vehicles and, today, a simple 4x4 pick-up would be be a good utility and mild off-road fit.

That said, we have no plans to replace the Av. This is the best general purpose vehicle I ever have or will ever own. And I'd unhesitatingly buy one again as/for a one and only.

Service guy at my local dealer told me that rumor again - that GM plans to bring back an Avalanche-type vehicle under GMC or Cadillac (maybe both) within the next few years. They are already pretty darned expensive, and this sounds like they want to make it more of an upscale vehicle.  If that is the case, I probably would not buy it. I love my Avalanche - I've had three now - but I will not be paying 60-70k for my next vehicle.

Unless it is a Tesla, of course.

I always thought GMC should have built the Avalanche type truck, maybe now I can get a Denali Avalanche.

I was at our local Caddi dealer looking at a CTS-V with my wife and decided to look at the Escalade, 98k, I almost pooped my pants, I thought it was nice but not worth 33% of my house nice.

Oh oh sign of old age!!!!! when you start comparing car/truck costs to your house........Just wait until you can say "that vehicle cost more than what I paid for my house! "  >:D

Yup!!  I have had a 2003 Z71 and now the 2010 LTZ....both great, but the 03 was a better machine...only issue was front ball joints- same as the Silverado's.  Looking now at a 2013.

You should have taken the Escalade for a ride then you would know why they cost so much, press the skinny pedal and hold on. Too bad they get 12-14 miles per gallon even with the 8 speed tranny.

I have used my 07 LTZ to haul and pull things and to get to remote beaches and camp sites like any work truck. It has been used as a daily driver to and from work like a car, and has been a shuttle for visitors that come to town like a luxury car. (One of my visiting execs liked my Avvy so much he got the bug and bought an '08 and then traded it in for a '13 black diamond)

My Avvy has done everything I have needed it to do in comfort with style that set the truck apart from the thousands of extra cab or crew cab trucks I see everywhere. Would I rewind life and buy it again...Absolutely!

Yes I would! In fact I'm hoping GM starts making more.

I bought my 2008 Avalanche last month and it is definitely my favorite vehicle I've owned. I've had a 1992 Explorer, 2004 Explorer, AMD my girlfriend and I currently own  2004 Malibu for her. I'm only 21 and haven't owned many vehicles, but this is by far the best (and our biggest purchase!). The comfort, the features, the power, this ride is top notch. I want it to last forever because if GM never brings back the Avalanche I dunno what my next one will be. Maybe just the newest one I can find haha.

I love my 2012 Avalanche.  I can really only say that about the first car I ever had - a '69 Camaro.  I LOVE the midgate and it's perfect for what I use it for.  We show rabbits, yes rabbits lol - and all I have to do is drop the midgate and fill it up with carriers.  They stay cool and out of the rain, and they don't block my view to the rear like they would in an SUV.

I keep waiting for something to pull but so far I've only dragged an engine hoist (on wheels).  I have yet to remove the back window and the only reason I haven't taken it off, to see how easy it is, is because I'd be concerned about it leaking after that...but maybe that isn't a concern?

When the Avy first came out I was intrigued by it's looks and I thought, 'someday I'd like to get one'.  When I heard they were discontinuing it I went to the dealer and got the last 2012 on the lot.  It was a tough choice between that and the 2013's already on the lot but I got a really good deal  :D

I'm not sure, towards the end of the run they looked more like the Caddys,  I wasn't a fan of the painted bumpers, I liked the chrome ones myself. I like the Truck look, the gas mileage isn't the best, I'm an ex tradesman, I have to have something to go pick up a 4x8 of something, but I don't want a red neck Pickup, lol
I was sad when they stopped making them, but then I was sad when GM cut Pontiac and Olds,
They just got too fancy in the end.  Keeping the look separate from the caddy was nice, but that wasn't  the case. A big maybe for me.

It wont leak !!  Dont worry about it, not an issue at all.  Had mine out many times and its never leaked a drop..
Havent heard of anyone else's leaking either..

Did, did and didn't! Traded the '07 LT3 because too many miles on the unmodified AFM engine, traded the '12 LT because it had more leaks than a depth charged submarine, but traded the cherry '13 Z71LT because there was no '16 LT so I went with a '16 Silverado Z71LT.

Missed the Avy for about a month, but after 11 months I've grown to like it better than the 3 Avalanches I've owned. Planned on keeping my loaded '13 with only 12K miles in cherry condition but Chevy dealer made an offer I couldn't refuse.......$36.5K trade on my 3 yo Avy against a similarly equipped new '16 Silverado double cab w/standard bed (MSRP $48.7K) sold for $39K. Including the tax differential I rolled out of the dealership with a new 3 year younger vehicle for just under $3,100! And the Silverado bargains continue.

Yes I miss the midgate but not really! Now I can carry a few sheets of plywood and up to 4-5 passengers instead of a crowded 2 seater with the midgate down.

Missed the covered bed, sail and saddle bags....not too long......easily remedied by installing the GM sports bar which has a sail with 3D logo and mounts for front & rear off road lights, roll-up, self storing tonneau cover and two swing out, lockable and removable behind-the-wheel storage boxes.

Ride is not quite as smooth probably because of the aggressive off road Bridgestones. But more than made up for in technology features. You don't need a Nav or Onstar because the My Link turns your cell phone into a Google voice command Nav system on it's 8" main screen, it's voice recognition system enables you to not only operate your cell phone using voice or button commands, but can accept text dictation or read and display incoming text messages to your cell phone......4G internet connectivity and access to services such as Pandora......AC power outlets for computers .....built in wireless cell phone chargers......ability to play video, photo and audio files through the USB hub and access ports. No more fluorescent green dot DIC display either....a 4" video screen in the main console pod that enables a myriad of graphic displays, e.g. a digital speedometer, or complex displays like a color text and graphic of the vehicle showing the active wheels engaged as well as on the fly the pitch and yaw and angles, and trailer braking.

The Z71 version looks real mean with projector headlamps, LED parking lamps and LED fogs and blackout grille. Leather 40-20-40 seating is comfortable and the center console converts to either a sixth seat while keeping its vast amount of hidden lockable space. Interior LED lighting & piping to controls at night gives the feel of piloting a spaceship. Always thought my Avys were large vehicles.........amazing how much smaller the Avy looks when parked side to side with the Silvy in a parking lot.

Loved the Avys when I had them, it was time to move on.

Did the same thing back in March. Picked up a '16 Silvy Z71 LTZ. Has more bells and whistles than I know what to do with. Added a rollup bed cover, running boards and vent screens. One of these days I'll get off my ass and paint the bowties black instead of that gold.

Traded in my #3, 2013 LTZ BDE for a mini-van for the family. Saved $200+/mo on payment with that move...wife's lease came up and I decided to try out a 4dr Jeep Wrangler Sahara Unlimited...that lasted 18 months and now I'm back in an AV. 2011 LTZ...and I couldn't be happier.

And it's a beauty! :)

I have had my 2007 since 2009  with 38000 miles and have not had any major issues besides some rust in the dog leg area now with 113000 miles and the rust fixed last spring.  I will drive an Avalanche till I can't get parts anymore.
You cant say that about many vehicles besides my 2001 Buick regal with 224,000 miles.

Yeah, I'd bet y an Avy again, just not the one that I did.  No other vehicle on the planet comes close to the versatility of an Avy.
