That's what I love about GM products, you simply can't beat the reliability of them, I had to recently rebuild the transmission on my Avy, I lost 5th and 6th gears and it still didn't leave me stranded, I drove it home with only 4 gears and by the time I got to the transmission shop I only had 2nd and 3rd gear. But after 235k miles I guess it was due, the shop couldn't believe it was the original with that many miles on it, I had them install a remanufactured one that has a 5 year, unlimited mileage warranty on it. I just took it on a road trip to Florida and back and put almost 2500 miles on it and it purrs like a kitten. I now have 240k+ miles on it. I don't think I'll ever think of getting rid of it unless I found one in superior condition with less than 100k miles and cheap, lolI lost my first AV in my divorce with about 50K miles on it after several choice modifications. The kids all argued about who was going to get it, little did they know that it would be wholesaled. I have owned at least 6 yukons, 1 corvette, 7 BMWs, 2 Mercedes, 2 Fords, 1 Lexus, 1 Saab, 1 Volvo, 4 Hondas, 3 Toyotas, 2 Nissans...
The reliability of the suburban/avalanche, in my opinion is at a completely different level than other GM vehicles. When wife 2.0 said, 'why don't you buy another avalanche, it might be your last chance' (since I spoke about it with reverence at some times when we would need a nice hauler or simply saw one on the road), I jumped at the opportunity.
While I have a long history of cars and love BMWs, the Avalanche is simply home.... In my use case, it was a hauler once per year, mostly for Christmas trees and helping friends, but mostly that comfortable friend that could go anywhere and do anything I asked of it...
I got back in a couple of months ago with a 2013 Z71 and would do it all over again.....
Ah the debate over comfort v. safety...while reclining seats would be nice for comfort they could be dangerious in a collision since a person could "submarine" under the shoulder and lap belt upon impact and maybe even get choked by the belts being high on the body. I know the argument is that the recline would only be used when parked but in reality many people would at least let a front passenger take a nap on a trip and a few might even try driving in a reline position as well.I also love trucks, but they have little space. I sometimes had to stop to tweak the software work time and would like a reclining chair. I prefer comfort when working.
One reason I now buy new and keep up with maintenance and nip little problems in the bud before they become big problems. I stopped buying used vehicles since it's hard to verify their maintenance and accident/ exposure history (floods, road salts etc.)ok, so, while still kicking myself, I have lost my second avalanche, after some expensive work done on it. Many lessons learned here, I guess one of the signs should have been when the paint started coming off where there was rust(almost like it was melting).... the tires/wheels couldn't hold their pressure... and the oil pressure issues were hidden / timed right, so they didn't show up until after owning the vehicle for about a month...
cmon GM, make a new electric avalanche and I'm all in!
There are plenty of horror stories about ice vehicles, too. My experience? I drove a Chevy e Spark for three years as a commuter and grocery getter, I loved the Spark for what it was and the only problems were Onstar (circuit board failed, replaced under warranty) and front end alignment. Range was limited but I went in with eyes wide open and it fit my needs. Researching new vehicles is always important and imho, probably more so with e vehicles. Buy one that doesn’t fit your needs and you’ll hate it.One reason I now buy new and keep up with maintenance and nip little problems in the bud before they become big problems. You might want to rethink the electric AV idea too, in another thread someone posted a video about a person with a Tesla and the dealership wanted $25,000 or so to replace the battery pack. He had it fixed at an independent shop for about $7,500 but still and expensive repair.....

It almost looks like an Avalanche, only thing missing is the bed cover in which I would imagine can be ordered as an option. They're calling it a Silverado. But it's clearly an Avalanche right down to the mid-gate.
The Chevy Silverado finally goes electric | TechCrunch
General Motors just pulled the sheet off the Chevrolet Silverado EV. It has a range of 400 miles, up to 664 horsepower and a starting price of $39,900 fortechcrunch.com
^^^Agreed^^^, 100%. There hasn't been anything else come along quite like the Avi (discounting that thing Honda put out) since it's inception. I had been looking long and hard for something dependable and large enough haul a family of 4 on long road trips and picked up a '08LT with 131K on the clock back on 2021. I LOVE IT.I love the truck. The Avalanche was actually innovative. I can't say that now for any GM product. Even their electric cars seem to be a copy of another company's ideas or executed better by someone else
I love the truck, hate GM.
Your wish may have come through, except it'll be called a Silverado EV.I would buy another if they made new ones again.
@jim_55379 could you share with me what you did to remedy that pesty TPMS system? This thing has been on since I bought it and it's driving me crazy .(I took care of the TMPS light for good)...
I'm sure there will be options, and even better than the original 3 piece cover. It almost looks like an Avalanche, only thing missing is the bed cover in which I would imagine can be ordered as an option.
I notice no midgate on the WT. Now if they give AWD and midgate at that level, I'd consider it. The others look cool but no way I'd drop that kind of coin on a vehicle.I'm sure there will be options, and even better than the original 3 piece cover.
Front truck is probably more spacious than the bedside toolboxes and gives us a bigger bed.

I like it. Has great range and hauling capabilities.
I hate the branding Silverado as its truly a re-invented Avalanche. Silverado has always been a pick-up truck. The Ford EV Lightning is a pick-up.
Maybe they will bring back Avalanche in gas since they have the Av body again.
Dang it. The wife said How much? and No!
