I worked for GM since 1972. I have NO problem with any vehicles except the Camaros with soft camshafts. I have Always ordered my truck the way I wanted them, but this time I bought one off the floor. It has been in over 20 times for work and  over 5 times for 4 wheel drive inop. Now they say I need new pistons. I know once a motor is opened up you will have oil leaks down the road. I suggested a Target motor, but CMD said NO. Guess being a loyal customer and working there all these years don't mean a SH*t. Hello FORD.. :E:

In a second. Hate the payments but love the truck period. This is my second Av and would love another except all the modding I would have to do again lol. I will remain true to GM since I have had Fords and other brands and nothing but problems with them. Chevys seem to run forever for me.

Definitely no but not because of the Avy. Like the look, love the versatility, just won't buy another GM product. Quality has gone through the floor. My older 02 was rock solid, my 07 has been nothing but repairs and all the electronics are unreliable... "Well it is an '07" like that kind of response from a dealer is supposed to motivate me to buy the new one???

Great idea, good initial execution, deplorable comedown in quality over time IMO

Only if I could afford the payments, gas, buying a home, so i'll probably have to keep what I got

I bought our 2007 in June 2006.  Would I do it again?  You bet.
I'm sorry to see the demise of the Avalanche. It's the best truck/SUV we've ever owned.
We'll be ready to replace it in a couple of years, but I don't know what we'll do as there is not other vehicle with the utility and features of the Avalanche.
I guess we'll just have to keep the 2007 Avalanche forever.

On my third one (2010); had '03 & '07 in past.  Will probably buy my 4th during the last model year and hopefully keep for rest of my life.  They fit my needs perfectly.  All have been Z-71's.

Absolutely Not....Depreciation and no 6.0 or 6.2.  I let her go as a guy made me an offer I couldn't refuse last year for my Gold Mist LTZ 6.0.  I stopped by my local Chevy dealer to which I've been a customer for over 15 years for service.  The dreaded Heated wiper fluid recall and as I waited I decided to look at the then 2010 Avy's. The pricing has actually increased sense my 07 purchase but I inquired anyway with my sales women.  The shocker wasn't what I could get with my GM discount but what they offered for my 14k mile 07 LTZ.  They offered 24K on my rig and I owed 22K... Depreciation is terrable for these trucks and I was insulted by the offer. After leaving the dealership I stopped at the gas station and a guy offered me 30K "as is" with my brush guard, lights and Lift Kit. I first responded that it wasn't for sale but then I in visioned some cash in my pocket and no more second mortgage payments would be great (My truck payment was two hundred dollars less than my house note). She had to go and yes I miss the truck but NOT the payments. I paid 50K for my rig in 07 and there was absolutely "0" rebates and my discount was eaten up by the destination charges (Searched and shipped from NY Chevy dealer as the only rig being Gold LTZ with 6.0, and Navigation).

  I couldn't imagine that. What was your payment??  (For reference, my 15-year fixed 4.5% mortgage is $1700/month before T&I.)

Bought this used as the deprecation is awful.  Lifelong Ford guy otherwise, just couldn't get a crew cab in the garage with an 8 foot box for those "special occasions".  After a year I still feel like I am just borrowing the Chevy and have to return it for my old Ford.

Very impressed and hope to hang on to it until the family need is no longer for a crew cab.  Every 15 years I get a different truck.  At this rate only one more to buy in my lifetime.  Might make it a Dodge just to say I had one of each.

Regardless if the Avy was totaled today, I'd be after another one for the aforementioned reasons.

Definitely would. It's the best of both worlds. SUV and Truck!

X2 if it only came in a 2500, with a big block.  :E: :E:

No I will not.  I have worked for GM for 36 years and then retired. I bought a 2008 and it has been in the dealer 18b times. Now they tell me because I am using 3 quarts of oil in 3000 miles they have to take my motor apart. I know 1st hand when it comes apart, it will have problems for ever. I am outta here and going to FORD.

18 times???

Sounds like a lemon lawsuit waiting to happen.

Hell yes!!  My 03 and 07 were GREAT vehicles, and I expect my 2011 to be the same. Only 1300 miles on it, but doing great so far.  Only vehicle I have ever owned that rode so well, towed anything I needed to, and could carr whatever home from Lowes.  Just sad they are probably going to quit making them after next.  I was going to wit for the last year, but this 11 was the exact color and options combo that I wanted.

No question. I love everything about this vehicle. I would not hesitate.

In fact, I ordered one 2 days ago. 2011 LT in Blue Granite/Ebony, Bose, Roof Rack.....

Congratulations, FamilyTrukster.  Just don't expect it to be green with wood paneling and eight headlights!

I just took a look at my local craigslist. If mine were to blow up right now, I'd be doing a little bit of research and find me one of these.  A low-priced 2002 (with the rear door and passenger footwell lights) 8.1L 4x4.

i love the avalanche!!!!! after i pay the 07 off prob gonna buy another one ....the only other truck that i may actually consider buyin besides an avalanche is a H1 or a H2

Without a doubt.  The versatility of the truck along with the features will keep me coming back.  I like the fact that I can load sheets of plywood in the truck, close the rear tailgate and not have to remove the panels.  The only thing I would change is telling Chevy to quit charging so much for updated navigation cd's.  $200 is way out of control!!!

Is this a trick question?  I just traded up from an 04.  I had three original Blazers (70, 72, 75) followed by a Suburban in 79 and again in 98.  Switched to the Avalanche in 04 and again in 2011.  So far, this one is the BEST !

Recently, someone asked me if I wanted to buy a raffle ticket on a competitors truck.  My reply was that I had an Avalanche and that I would just have to return the other one if I won!  They were not amused!

Every car & truck has problems.  Dodge, Chevy, Ford.  I had a Nissan Maxima that was a hand me down from the wife and I HATED that car.  Was a piece of poop.  (<- WTH?  You can't write ess atch eye tee?)  Constant problems...and yet her 99 Maxima was rock solid.  I know plenty of people with Hondas, Toyotas, and Fords that have issues as well.

As for my '08 Avy, its almost paid off.  In 2013, with the alleged demise of the Av, I will be ordering a new one.

Maybe all the crazy features these car companies are trying to put in these vehicles is the problem.  I've got a 2wd LS and I have had no major issues.  Granted it is a base model or "stripped".  But I got AC, pw, pl, pw, pb.  I would have liked a Sun Roof but I don't need anything else and you can't order just a sunroof - you have to order a bunch of other bullpoop (<-) I don't want like backup cam, heated seats, etc.

The only 2 issues I have is a bad door lock on the rear driver side, and an intermittent speaker on the pass front door.  If GM campaigns the door lock, my speaker issue is in the middle of being resolved with a set of Polk Audio components, a sub box, amplifiers, and Pioneer HU.

Its a shame every time GM gets a car to perfection they kill it off.  I will DEFINITELY be buying a new Avy the last year (2013?)

Maybe I have had good luck with GM vehicles?  My wife has a 2006 Envoy, which we both love, and no major issues...and an extended warranty covered 95% of the other typical bullpoop issues you normally encounter.  My sister had a 99 Silverado 1500.  It had 203k miles on it when it got totaled.

And I am hanging on to my 2000 vert TA for dear life!

I went over to Ford after really wanting a used 2009 AV with the new 6 speed transmission.  My local Chevy dealer and I dickered for a month on a low mileage 2009 LTZ.  They would not budge on price even though I could get a new LTZ for a few thousand more if I went elsewhere.  36K was my limit according to the bank and that was not anywhere close to a new LTZ or Z71 with options..  Used 2009+ Avs with average mileage are very scarce in the NW.

So I started listening to my friend that was raving about the new F150 with the ecoboost.  I took a test drive and the dealer gave me the same trade in appraisal on my Av as my Chevy dealer.  I still gave the Chevy dealer a few more weeks to budge on the price and then ordered exactly what I wanted from Ford.  So I got a new truck for a lot less than what the dealer was holding onto their used one for.  They eventually sold theirs for about 38K.

I may pick up a classic 2002 Av with all the bells and whistles someday.  That was the most reliable year and I really liked the used 2002 I had for a year (traded it for the 2007).

Yup, I've got a low mileage '04 (40K) but want to start from scratch with a 2012 since it's the last model year according to all speculations.
