I have had a few vehicles over the years, convertables, trucks, sedans, compacts, but this is by far my favorite one. I love this truck. I carry sound gear for work , that needs to be protected from the weather, and the thing just looks good. Its a truck i can still take the family downtown to dinner.

Of course i would buy another one, but plan on holding on to this one as long as i can.

I bought my second Avalanche in January.  It is a 2013 Black Diamond LS.  Prior to that I was driving a 2002 Avalanche with all the trimmings.  It was the best vehicle that I have ever owned.  My daughter and son-in-law are now driving it in Colorado and loving it.  I bought my 2013 in Idaho and drove home to South Alabama.  3100 miles in the snow across 4 states.  Truck did great.  I've already put in a new stereo head unit, amplifier and dash cam.  I'm just sad to see a great product come to the end of its' life cycle.

We are on our 3rd. 03; 09; 13. Black Diamond LTZ. Love-em. Just need a little better MPG. Why are they being discontinued ????

I already answered this, but

YES!!

Just took the family on a short trip in my '06 (wiht 140k miles) after driving my new-to-me 2000 Jetta diesel all week for commuting.

Though the Jetta is averaging 37 MPG, NOTHING compares to the comfort of the Avalanche.

So quiet and smooth. Bumps in the road are negligible.  I drove my son yesterday to the orthodontist in the Jetta. I had to go over three speed bumps.  In the AV, the speed bumps are hardly noticeable. In the Jetta...

:beating:

Got a used '07 a little over a year ago and was shocked to hear they're gone after this year - I guess there's no way I will ever own a brand new one  :(

Sure, in a few years I may get a 2013.  Just got my 2010 with 36,000 miles on it and went ahead and bought the 3yr 36,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty.  Working on NAVY ship a lot means my wife needs a good warranty for almost anything.

You betcha, loved the 2003 z71. Sold it and bought a 2010 LTZ with the 6.2 L engine. Love the power and the fuel consumption is close to the 2003. I like the versatility of the mid gate. Nice to haul 4x8 sheets of plywood or drywall and not worry about exposure to rain. Had the 2003 for ten years with no major issues. Would buy again but plan to keep this one for a long time.

While the AV is very nice, I don't think I would buy another one.  It's a bit too heavy and a bit too sluggish.  Also, I think I'd prefer a real truck bed for hauling dirt and stuff like that. I have a 2011 AV LTZ w/ a 5.3.  I also have two kids in car seats, so the whole mid-gate thing isn't something I get to use very often.

What's interesting to me is that the Silverado, even in top trim, didn't have features the same features as the LTZ AV...but I believe that's changed in the 2014 lineup.

All in all, I think I'd rather have a high-end pickup than the AV. But to be honest, I'm not sure which high-end pickup I would buy, if any of them.  Each brand has it's own issues and it's really, really, tough to put $50K+ out for a new truck.

I would buy another, depending on if I like whatever changes to the body style, engine options (or lack there of), and price tag...I would also look at fit and finish and quality of materials used.  The last time I had my Av in before I gave up on others working on it...I looked at some Silverado's.  The quality of plastic used in the interior was shockingly crappy.  I never would have thought that you could have varying levels of quality when it comes to plastic in a car...but the automakers managed to do it.

Yes - did it already!  Traded in my 2006 Z66 last March for a 2013 Black Diamond and love it!  Maybe even more than the '06.

hmmm.. like my Z71 2011, but my 2005 Z66 was more dependable and a better built truck. The 05 was a brute and nothing went wrong - I always loved the embossed Chevrolet tail gate and I can't believe Chevy followed Ford, Dodge and Nissan with an emblem on the gate.  My 08 and 11 both seem to have little issues popping up. I guess I'm on the fence now.  ???

Yes, if the price was great... (y)  I went from a F 350 crew cab 2006 6.0, and I haven't looked back.  Loved the towing with capabilities of the Ford, but the price of fuel was outrageous, and I sold my boat so I didn't need that large of a truck to tow.

It's funny the only thing I really miss from my 06 on my 13 is the steps in the bumper.  I loved the cladding but I think the new one looks great like it is.

Nope....Our 2003 Z66 2wd with cladding was great, got a honest 20 mpg hwy and was very quite as to wind noise, but our new 2013 is a PTA to get into the bed without those side steps, wind noise constant over 50 mph, no door panel lights or glove box light, duel windshield visors are gone, no upper tint band in windshield, fixed bed mounts, one light on bed side, not even a cover for the owners manual......... and best mpg now a year later is 17.8....GM really cheapened their product in that 10 year spanse

Sold my silverado and bought a 07 and love it. Haven't found anything I dislike other than trying to decide what mods I want to do next.

Been as happy as can be with mine. Always thought about a what if I did get that F-150 or GMC Sierra but always think about the lockable bed cover and side storage. Since it has been discontinued, I will probably just keep it forever or till it dies.

I am with you on that one.

Mine is my first truck and I could not think of a truck I would rather have than this. I love it. I will drive this til it dies and then fix it over and over and keep it forever.
