Would anyone here ever consider buying an AV with either Quadrasteer on it or a Diesel engine in it ???? Am I the only one who wonders about this? I would definatly spring for a diesel in a 2500 4wd. Anyone else or am I just wierd like that :2:?

A diesel, yes in a new york second!! It kills me that my buddy is getting 28 mph on the highway in his Ford Excursion with a chip and an intake. The thing accelerates just about as good as my 2500 Av.

There has been a lot of discussion on wanting a Diesel in the AV - many people wish and we have learned why it is not there. Quad Steer? I don't trailer with my AV, and have gotten used to the longer turning radius compared to a car, so I doubt I would pay extra unless I was building a top end 4x4

I'd spring for both the Diesel and the Quadrasteer. They just need to get the cost of the Quadrasteer down to a reasonable amount.

I would have liked to see a V6 diesel in a 1500.

Wasn't GM considering making a 90 degree angle 5.0 liter V6 (3/4 of 6.6 liter) version of the Duramax to be made on the same production line as the V8 6.6?

Duramax w/Allison tranny, oh ya! I even like the sound of the 5.0 V6.

Quadrasteer not too interested.

It doesn't seem that the Av needs quadrasteer. The thing turns in a much tighter circle than my 94 GMC Sierra extended cap.

A diesel would be nice.

Just curious - how many of you saying no QS have driven a truck with it?

I have and it is amazing! I would love both in an AV and would buy one this weekend. Shouldn't be too hard since the AV and Suburban chassis are the same and the Suburban has both.

GM, are you listening?

Yes to both. I probably would have gone with the 2500 instead of the 1500 to get the diesel.

I don't think you can get the Duramax in the Suburban - the problem as I understand it is that the Allison tranny won't fit in the Av / Suburban and they don't have another tranny that will take the torque. Now on the Silverado, you can get the Allison or a 6-speed. My choice would be the Duramax and a 6-speed in the Av . . . ;D. But it'll not happen - not much demand for a stick in an Av or Suburban . . :6:

Yes to the Duramax. Definitely.

Not sure about the Quadrasteer since I haven't driven anything with it yet. I'm pretty happy with the AV 1500 turning.

Diesel...... Ohhh Yeah! No Quad steer.

When the AV is paid off in 5 years I'll be moving to a diesel sierra or silverado. I love the AV, but I need more power. The general needs to step up if I'm going to stay with an AV. I don't care what chassis problems they have, they(GM engineers) could change it if they wanted.

I think the quad steer is great for H-way driving, but I went four wheeling w/one last weekend and it was a frustrating experience. Just not the same feel that I'm used to. It wasn't right.

I'd think about a diesel too, but I'm with blue on the Q-steer. Blue, even if you were building a top end 4x4, you'd stay away from Q-steer...too weak for the kind of stuff the hardcore guys want their back wheels to do! One of the off-road mags tested a truck with it and they mangled one of the tie rods just backing down a hill. I'd love it for parking lots, but the added complication, weakness, and cost just aren't worth it.

Crexis - I saw the Quad on a rock crawler as it did amazing things - it might have been a different build than GM's but this crawled over some monster rocks and made amazing turns - I agree you wouldn't need it for general 4x4ing - rock crawling well that was just too cool - fun to watch but I want to be flying off road Baja style - LOL

I'd go for the Quad Steer and possibly the Diesel, but I'd also want a rear view camera as a factory installed option. Offer those and I'd trade my 2002 in without question, espcially if they have solved the AC problem while idling or in slow traffic.

I don't know... I'd consider a stick. Especially since it would ensure that the wife would never drive it. >:D

Diesel has no interest for me, but then I've never driven one. My interest may change if the torque is as much fun as others say it is.

Quadra steer would be nice, but it's unlikely to be in any 1500. From what I've heard, it requires leaf springs (which means 2500 only) and it also needs extended wheel wells (which may not fit in the Av bed width.)

GM has said categorially in the past that there will be no QuadraSteer in the Av. It is not needed because the Av already has an unusally small turn radius for such a large truck.
