Friend of mine gave me a monstrous S&B air filter for a 6.4 diesel a little over a year ago, and I finally decided to put it to use. I had about a 1/4 roll of aluminum trim coil left over from a job, about 20sqft of HVAC bubble wrap insulation, all kinds of different foam rubber, a couple different sizes of wire mesh, a box of self tapping metal screws, a couple Fernco plumbing fittings, some black 4" ABS pipe, and a cabinet full of specialty and high temp paint........so I got rid of the stock adolescent moose antler air intake and made this

Wanted my Av to be able to exhale as well as it was going to inhale, luckily I'm addicted to the sounds of the internal combustion engine and have listened to many exhaust videos, and been drooling over the Borla Touring tone for a few years. However I couldn't bring myself to pay $1000 for one, so I started looking on craigslist, offer up, the facebook, basically anywhere that I might find one that someone was selling for whatever reason. After a couple hours of searching I found the muffler only out of a Cat-back system for an '18 F-150 on the facebook yard market sales place about 4hrs away in Knoxville TN (I'm in Charleston WV area). It was purchased for a 2.7L turbo. The gentlemen said it had about 300miles on it and he had removed/replaced muffler only because it wasn't loud enough(not sure what would be loud on a 2.7L) Spoke with Borla and they confirmed my findings that it was the exact same as they sell for the 5.0. From the installation diagrams I could tell that the only difference in this muffler and the one in the 2011 Avalanche kit was the tailpipe configuration. I had spoken to this guy repeatedly by now and have spent a lot of time in the area he lived, so I offered him $150 + shipping and he took it. Spotless stainless muffler arrived two days later for a total of $201.59. I took it to a friend from high school that specializes in custom headers/exhausts etc and low and behold we didn't even have to modify the tailpipes. 3" SS from my now empty? 3rd Cat to muffler w/dual 2.25" out to a pair of flat black tips behind passenger tire.... It took a little luck and a little self created luck but I'm just under $500 in the whole setup....and so far so good! Let me know if any would like details on how I did the intake. Have a good weekend!
