I thought I would share my recent experience with XM Radio. I think XM Radio is great so last month when my free period expired, I called and signed up for the two year option. Without getting into all the details, I was billed for "regular" service at 9.99 a month instead of 8.29 ($199/12). I called XM and was told although they can see my credit card was added to the account there were no notes indicating I asked for the two year package and therefore they will not adjust the billing. The Manager would not speak to me and passed on the message that they will not go back in time to make an adjustment. Interesting approach to customer service. For a $1.70 they have infuriated a customer.

Good thing they have a monoply.

That sux. I have had my XM for over a year now. I sometimes wish I had went for the 2 year signup bonus but if that is the way it is.........hmmmm

KZ,
Manager wont speak to you huh? You don't need to speak to him either. Just call the credit card company, explain the circumstances, and ask them to withold payment. For me, it would be more a matter of principle, than the couple of extra dollars a month.
Hard to believe a large co. would treat you like that.

What he said and he said -- I agree that it blows...ummmmmmmm...sux.

Thanks for your comments, sometimes you have to share these things to get them off your chest.

What I ended up doing is "canceling" the month to month service that was billed for three months and, if they get it right this time, signed up for the two year plan. Now I have to wait to see if I get proper credit for the unused part of the three months I was billed for and if I end up with the two year plan. Then I'll only out $1.70 a month for a short period of time. As was stated in one of the replies, it isn't the money, it is being told you are lying about requesting the two year plan and you are trying to beat the large company out of $1.70 for one month of service.

I thought about the credit card route but instead wrote the CEO a letter, including the individuals names, explaining the practices being followed by his customer service people. I wonder if I will hear anything?

I just noticed this posting and its perfect timing for me. I just installed my XM antenna this weekend and plan on completing the install later this week if time permits. I'll remember to ask for the two year package at the 8.29 price. Thanks KZ-Z71AV for the post and good luck resolving your XM problems.
