XM Woes (or Are They Just Dumb?)

I recently got a pioneer avh-7480dvd and had them install the XM receiver. After a few initial installation problems, Pioneer and the installer (a local audio/video business) got the unit to recognize the XM receiver. The head unit is XM ready. They also put the Terc-2 Antenna on and I get zero reception except when I leave for work in the A.M. and that is only for 100 yards or so. Also, my unit says nosignal on the screen which means the signal is not strong enough. When I unplug the antenna, I get the error message "Antenna". My guess is they installed the Ant. wrong or one of the antenna micro coax cables is broke because I got reception, albeit for only a few minutes. My question is, should I have the antenna wires go around the window like the box says or is running them together straight from the mount at the rear center of my roof to the receiver on my driver side firewall ok? I have also contemplated the very nasty looking terc-1 Antenna since it is supposedly an amplified antenna. Please HELP so I can have those awesome tunes you folks keep talking about.

I installed the antenna on the roof right behind the windshield amd ran the wires around the glass and inside and mine works fine I have the mouse ant

Replace the antenna. My buddy had a bad antenna with the same symptoms. I get reception everywhere with the same setup. Also, IMO, find another installation shop.

My guess is that it your antenna also. I have XM and my reception is perfect 99.999% of the time.

I hope you get it fixed. XM is great.

I suspect you have an antenna problem also. I have the Terk Antenna (looks like a mouse or turtle) system works fine.
