Yellowstone National Park

I'll be there in April. 'Was there last July. --My Grandaughter has April off of her school so I have to go then.

I'll use any excuse to spend time in Yellowstone.

Fbuhler, with a little luck I'll be fishing the skwala stone fly hatch on the Bitterroot early this coming April. I usually fish between Wally Crawford and Stevensville. Do you still run that restaurant? ;D

I would be very interested. My only concern is it will still be very cold in March. We might would get a much better turn out in May. Maybe just before school gets out to beat the crowds. I have also found mid- September to be a great time to visit. You have the whole park to yourself. I have had dinner in the Old Faithful Lodge in September when there were only two tables filled counting mine. I think it is a great idea and I would attend a cruise there once or twice this year. September is a great time of year to visit Yellowstone. The elk are heavy into the rut by mid month, and the bulls are busy gathering their harems and bugling. I took this photo mid-September on the upper Madison in 2001.

May I suggest April - I believe that is more compatible with the school schedules for children, many of which get a week off during that tme.

Also what would the road conditions be like at that time of year? I would be under the impression that there would still be a TON of snow and that only Mammoth would be accessible by Avalanche.

April or May 2004??

Is there a way to add a poll to a topic?

I think most of the park re-opens in late April.

I would like to do this when the full park is open and all entrances are open aswell...

Still doing my research.....

Not many members in Wyoming  :E: I think  I?m all alone  :(  But than again I have the whole state to myself  :woohoo:

Where else can you ride this close to a buffalo while on a motorcycle? Priceless!!!

I really like that park and it would be a great place for a National or a small group GTG.

When I went in April 04, I was a bit early as half of the park was still closed, however the Bison and other wildlife were all over the place. Old Faithful was open, and the place was of course absolutely beautiful.

Early~mid May is excellent but kid's school schedules may make that a problem for families of course.
