...it has snowed for six days straight and it's going to rain for the next four, but when the first break in the clouds appeared in the afternoon on the way home, you waste $10 on a car wash with the full knowledge your Avalanche will be just as filthy tomorrow morning.

hehe...i very much agree with that,

but in my case, ill drive around filthy for a week , and the moment it drives me crazy, i wash the rig and next thing you know, rain all week :(.

oh well, when you love your Av, you love you AV...

Heck I wash mine in the rain outside in my driveway. Then when it stops I re-rinse and dry.

I think of excuses just to drive mine. Like going to the Post Office to by stamps at 2 am and then searching for the perfect mail box. :)

Some of us wear our mud with pride. :p :D  :B:

I do have to wash it when my wife has to jump out and away from the AV in order not to get muddy getting out. :cautious: The hard part is getting a sprayer strong enough to blash the mud put of those little crevises all over the undercarrage.

Washed and waxed on Sunday morning.
Was heading up to the local Fish Shop for Salt Water supplies and came down a street that had a water main break
I pi$$ed a whole lotta people off driving 1 MPH through the litle river.
I still have a clean av though-
Oh yeah, I went home a different way too!!!!!!!!!! >:D

I too wash in the rain,
Re rinse and then use the Lawn Blower to zip dry the whole AV,
The blower pushes out all the water in the cladding cracks.

My daughters favorite saying: (7yo girl)
Ohhhhh nOOOOOOO dad's washing the av again-
we'll never get to leave the house now, aaawwwwwwwwww"

. . . a good thread to resurrect given that the muck and crud of winter are baaack!

At the end of slushy days I've often 'invested' $3 in a quick rinse at the 'spray it yourself' carwash to get rid of the ice, sand, and junk that builds up under the wheelwells. Makes for a nicer looking Av and a cleaner garage (which is where all the junk would melt off with out the quick run thru the car wash).

Sands611, I too wash mine in the rain.

I am sure the neighbors think I am crazy (I know my wife does,) but the rain water rinse seems to leave less water spots.

To avoid the winter crud I just bought a beater pickup, plus I'm not hauling mulch in my baby.

:B: :B:
Just as you're dozing off you say "Goodnight, Ruby"..........only thing is your wife's name is Linda and Ruby is your Av........... :cautious: :cautious:

....you go sit in it at night, just because ?;D

Been there, done that! Hehe ?>:D

yeah i have done that as well, but the worst was the day i got my truck back after getting my lift installed, i just stood in the driveway looking in aww at it..... and then kept comeing back outside just to see it one more time.....

You know you love your Avalanche when you start preparing for it like a babies arrival before you even have it. Only instead of the baby dept., you shop the autoparts stores. I even bought better towels for it than than the family uses. Then there is the Zaino order. Baby Bath Magic never cost that much. ;D

I can see it now... AV showers. All your friends and family get together and throw you an AV shower. You get a digital cam, some Zaino...

no no no.... you KNOW you love your AV when it has snowed for 6 days straight and you spent every single one of them in 4-Hi tooling around looking for roads and trails that you've never been on before.

THEN comes the somewhat useless but temporarily satisfying car wash.

 :love:It's the last night of racing season, there's a big party at the track, your driver brought his motorhome, but you sleep in your Av with the midgate folded. Just cuz you love it!!!

Yeah, or just make it your house altogether >:D >:D!
I'm just kidding.

Last Christmas when we went to PA we saved ourselves some $ by letting the AV be our moving hotel on wheels by simply using the midgate and putting a bed back there. It was the most comfortable cruising we have EVER had :B: .

The things we do because we love our AVs ;D!
