Ive had my 2002 Av z71 in the shop 5 times now for noises in the front end.
1st problem was a shutter in the front end at 13 miles per hour
they had the av for 3 days pulled all the bearing and all were bad. (at less than 25 k miles). I about freaked when i saw this  They said there was a bulletin on this. Something about improper lubrication.
They were able to fix this problem. But had the same vibration once again at 38k miles, But has since dissapeared. ( they blamed it on after market tires, which are the same exact size as the originals. (this took 3 visits to fix)

Now it has an intermittent popping noise (very noticable) when turning right or left on a curve. Its also pops when turning full right or full left in a parking lot. Usually 1 to 2 pops max. As the problem is intermittent im having trouble with the dealership saying that they can't duplicate the problem. :8: .
Finally the car wash attendant duplicated the problem today as i was comming to pick it up once again. So now i get to take it back tomorrow :E: . Problem started to show up at around 30k miles, and the AV has 39k miles now

Anyone have any Idea what this popping noise is??? Any suggestions for getting it fixed????
To be fair the dealership has been very accomodating in an effort to fix this problem despite the vehicle being past the warranty period.
Thanks in advance for your help

I have mine in the shop right now for the same thing. They said that it has something to do with the rear-end but they are going to have to tear it apart tomorrow to find out what it is.

I also have a Z71 2002 with 35,000 miles when it started. I have 200 left on the warranty so it will be covered at least.

Mine would only happen when making left hand turns very slowly, like when pulling into a parking spot. The dealer can and has duplicated the problem several times so they have some idea of what it is doing.

:p I have had this problem start up, but am waiting for a phone call from my dealership telling me that the third panel bed cover they ordered and special adhesive they need to fix the rear window mouldings (which has come loose and they tried to fix unsuccessfully) are in. Since they failed to fix the rear window once before they said they'll give me a loaner. Then I'm gonna drop the bomb on em about the steering popping (when making right turns in parking lots especially) and let em take their time fixing it.

Okay, here's what happened to my truck.

Rear differential locker locking up on turns, r & r cover found cracked, metal chunks and a lot of metal on magnet. Replace rear diff. carrier, check all measurements, fill diff.

Don't know if this helps anyone or not.
