Updated Original Post:

There is an opportunity for a zip-line adventure about 70 minutes away in Louisville, KY.  This is NOT a planned cruise or adventure, however it could be added on to the end of the Mega Tour that is planned for Friday, or done on your own at another time if you wish (They are open on Sunday if you want to go down after our breakfast).

There is also a Groupon available for anyone who has a group of 4 or more that want to go.

It looks like an absolute blast, but unfortunately doesn't fit in with the events we already have scheduled.  I apologize for not getting this in the original event ideas, it totally slipped my mind that it was nearby!

NOW THAT LOOKS LIKE FUN! We have a lot of free time on Friday but it better be a good groupon cause it is out of my price ramge......Let me know.

That sounds cool.  My daughter just said she would like to do it.  It all depends when it is.  Since I'm leading the Historic Ohio Theater tour I'm out early/mid Saturday afternoon.  Were still not sure what time we're coming down Friday - probably early evening.  Looking at that mess I just typed, don't schedule around me, but if it fits we're in.

While I would like to try the zip line Joan couldn't do it. I looked at the website and they have a Mega Tram, it is a underground riding tour of the caverens. The ride last a hour or so and sounds interesting. We would be up to cruise with a group to this event if you can get it set up.

There's a small window of time after the Show and Shine until we leave for Ponderosa...not sure we could fit this in then...I'll look into it more for either the tram or zip.

Wouldn't be able to do it then. We have a small lunch time then the Ohio Theater tour and need to be back at the Paddle Wheel for the raffle drawings at 3PM. Saturday has a mostly full schedule.......

Okay, did some looking:  Tram rides are 60-70 minutes, and start every hour on the hour on Saturday.  So, we could drive down (estimated at aprox 68 minute drive), take a tour, and drive back in the free time.  However, it does coincide with the theatre tour, which I wanted to do.  (Lafsalot and I met at the theatre here in Jasper, and are theatre buffs).

I would love to do this Friday morning if the Golf thing doesn't pan out.  Another thought is that Didit could add it to the Louisville Slugger museum cruise?

Sorry, Butch...I wish I would have remembered this sooner!  I'll check with my better half and see what she wants to do Saturday afternoon.Cross posted...

Friday morning for those not wanting to do the Dyno or Louisville Slugger tour or like you said we could allow a hour for the Slugger tour and meet at the Zip place say at 11AM. that would still allow the hour for the tram, a hour to get back and still have some free time before the wine tour starts.....just thoughts, remember everyone will not want or be able to do all events so IMHO more choices are OK!

From an inquiry I made at a zip line in Gatlinburg last year, I suspect that I am over the weight limit.  It's my understanding that about the most you'll find allowed at zip lines is 260 pounds, fully dressed shoes and all, and for many the weight limit is even less.

I might have had a chance if I were to strip down to absolutely nothing but they didn't seem to want my business that much...

From their site:

The MEGA ZIPS & Adventure Tour is designed for participants of average mobility and strength who are in reasonably good health. Children up to 14 years old must be accompanied by an adult. Participant weight guidelines are 55 to 285 pounds. The minimum age requirement is 7 years old. Participants WILL be weighed in a private setting before zipping. If you do not meet the weight requirement, you will be given a 6 month rain check to return at a later visit. There is a small amount of walking uphill for less than 1/10 of a mile. You must also be able to understand and implement verbal instructions from the tour guides.

I'm sorry but that is CR&P!!!  They take your money before they weigh you and don't return it if your weight isn't within their limits!?!  Are they using calibrated scales or ones that they've set up to screw people out of their money???  Sounds very shady to me.

Then again, you know what your weight is, so if you're close to that limit you should probably not chance it, don't you think?

I agree, keeping your money is wrong, but why chance even losing it if you're in that limit ball-park in the first place?  If I was at 280 the morning I planned to go, I would probably avoid going.  If I'm at 250, I think I'd be okay to go.  KnowwhatImean?

I know what you mean, but I also know questionable business practices when I see them if you know what I mean.  (n)

Enoniam.  Don't feel so bad about missing out.  At 6'8", 305lbs, I get screwed out of just about everything fun by either size or weight.

With the limit at 285, I could probably be under that as I was under 265 dripping wet this morning stepping out of the shower.  As CntrySngr72 so wisely states though, I should probably not take a chance given their policy though, which brings me back to the point is why not give people their money back or weigh them before taking their money???  That's what the zip line in Gatlinburgs business practice was.  This isn't hard.  What it is is a red flag to me about this particular establishment.  :9:

I wonder if their policy refers to people who buy their tickets ahead of time online vs. showing up and buying them.  I would think that they would weigh you before hand if you showed up but hadn't paid yet.  I guess I'll find out Friday when we go for the Mega Tour.
