Investigating my midgate leaks today. Took the back window out to clean there are
two separations in the frame. Defrost still works. So will replace at a later date.

Nice! How many miles on her now that you had to do that?

My 2004 EXT had 116K on it when I bought it back in 2012.

The AWD transfer case was a little noisy back then, but not enough to justify the cost of replacement.

I have had too many other things over the years to repair or replace in my efforts to make sure my truck stayed in it's best possible shape.

In the past year, the noise and vibrations had become more than what I was willing to put up with any longer.

Someone else may not have bothered, but it began to bother me more, and when something begins to bother me, I address it.

My EXT now has 225K on it and it is in really good shape, as of this moment.

I hope I didn't just jinx the thing.

The little compressor is in the 2nd battery location, horns are behind the grill, tank below them behind the bumper.

I had my SECOND oil cooler line set installed.

The set we replaced had been installed many years ago when we were chasing oil leaks.

Out of nowhere, the current oil cooler line set developed a leak from a tiny puncture hole in one of the fittings that attaches the metal line to the rubber hose.

All I can figure is something on the roadway may have flown up and hit that spot just right.

 :E:

For those that have never done this repair, it's one of those, like most line sets on these trucks, that is time consuming and aggravating.

Fishing the line set through some tight spaces and having to remove more things than you would like to gain space to move around.

The truck was raised and lowered on the lift more times than I care to remember.

But, after an afternoon down at the shop and a couple of hundred bucks later, I am once again leak free.

Saturdays mornings I go into town to have coffee with a friend. It was 28 with a light frost on The Avy.
Let it warm up a bit a while the little guy got ready. Went in had my coffee walking out to the Avy something
just did not look right.

There is a crack about 3 inches from the bottom of the windshield all the way across. Looks like it spidered
from an old chip.   :E: :E: :E: :E:

So two new windows coming soon.

I've been waiting for a rock chip on the passenger side to do the same that so I can get insurance to cover it; but it's been more than 12 years now and hasn't grown a mm.

The insurance thing is a joke any more. Why have a locale agent any more.
Have to go through a third party.  :cuss:
Is it in line of site?  :sigh: No itís clear across the windshield. Let me check, well you
are approved by your insurance.  :sigh: Want you to use one of their cut rate places.  :E:
I said no I have a place they have to call them and make sure they will take their cut rate price.

Took me two days but I got the place I wanted. Will be replaced on Friday.   :B:

I was playing with my newest toy a OBDLINK MX+ diagnostic tool and found out that the 2500 burns 1 gallon of gas per hour at idle. So after figuring out if I drive at 60 MPH at 12 mpg or 80  at 10 MPG it will use the same amount of energy but I'll get there faster. Just depends on how long the engine is running.

I was finally able to spend some non-maintenance dollars on the EXT.

I located a dash bezel with the matching wood grain style to replace my old one that had a couple of the mounting tabs broken off.

They changed the wood grain style every year on these things, so finding a match has been a challenge.

Nice to not have those little rattles coming from the dash, anymore.

The same place had a bed mat, off of a 2004, no less.

Not that it matters, but still.

My EXT has never had the factory correct bed mat since I've had it.

There was no mat at all in it when I bought the truck, so I bought a mat that goes in a step side pickup truck and cut off the extra length.

The one I bought has worked really well and is actually thicker and heavier than the factory mat.

I'll probably just toss it on top of the factory mat and leave it in the truck.

The factory bed mat I bought was really cruddy, but I took my power washer to it and it cleaned up really nice.

It was nice to spend a few dollars on stuff like this instead of some repair.

Now to wait on the next thing to break.

My luck JV, it would only spider on the passenger side.

Or you can wait until itís in the 90ís.  While washing it spray the windshield with fresh cold well water.
Watch it explode like you set of a stick of dynamite. A friend did this while I was stand talking to him.
The look on his face when it exploded I peed myself.

Well at 4:30pm yesterday a lot of emotions happened.
A guy decided not to stop at a yield sign. We are all OK.

There is a large intersection I was going straight through with a green light. Just after you get through
thereís an upgrade and over a railroad crossing. There is a merge just after the tracks with a yield for cars
coming off the highway. A small car came zooming out. Then the van followed without looking. Seen him
coming but nothing I could do. Lucking I did not get pushed into the oncoming lane. It was full of rush hour traffic.
Smashed the front passenger fender, bent the door, F%^( up my rim, cladding, bumper mount, bumper, hood, fog light.
The impact blew my grill taking out headlights, and turn signals. No air bags deployed.

The worst is I had the little guy with me. His first wreck. He cried about my Avy. The police officers and fireman/paramedics
talked with him helped. Then he got out and looked at the Avy. He said John your Chevy emblem is gone. I thought he
was going to go after the guy. He lost is at dinner time. Talked cried, hugs, cry, more hugs. He stayed home from school
with me today.
Prayers and thanks everyone is OK. Mettle can be replaced.

The place I take all my body work to is a high end shop. So all work goes out with no question on the work done.

Pics will come.

Damn JV, so sorry. Glad it only metal and not flesh. Glad everyone is okay. Still its more than just a truck, it's part of your family. I've had mine 16 years and just don't see parting with it. Had a coworker ask me today when am I going to sell it to him, Never I said. Give me a call if you want to talk about it.
