Want to thank all for the kind words.

So talked to the insurance yesterday, they are talking total.
Stopped and got some photos.
Shops is helping anyway they can. He said they have not looked at it yet.
They have not seen the miles and how clean it is No mater what it's not
going anywhere.

So I'm going to try the glary out.
The out side photos I found are to big so I'll look for some.

 This doesn't look totaled!

Use the photo program to reduce their size and then upload. If the frame is not bent, don't let them total it.

When I talked to the shop today. He told me the only thing he can't find is the fender flair.
That I know just clean it up it will be good. I do have a set that are 02 and painted.
I'll have to get them cleaned and prepped have them paint them color matched.

Use to have great insurance agents. Now young ones, it's all about the money. I've never even talked
to this one not even after this wreck.. He took over when the good guy retired.

So the waiting game has be gone. I'll start calling every other days.

Hot Rod Dream Works to see if they came under their limit of repair allocation. Well they are under so the process starts.
What about the other guys insurance? Transfer me, let me check Iíll get back to you. Bang they call go through the BS.

At least my Avy will be fixed. Canít say enough about Hot Rod Dream Works.

It's been a while since I posted... I'm up in northern MN, and don't have heated parking, so... you know, you get your vehicle ready the best you can in fall and hope for the best.

I bought this AV (2002,Z71,340kmiles) last summer, and the big question with a new vehicle is, how will it start in the cold?  This is particularly important to me because I am out to work around 4AM, the coldest part of the night.  And, as I guess you know, this is probably the coldest we have seen here, they say, in a generation.  It's -37 degrees F ambient, -60 F windchill as I type this.

So far...EXCELLENT!  It has started by aftermarket remote FOB faultlessly, except yesterday for some reason... the battery was really low, like maybe a door wasn't shut all the way overnight.  30 minutes on my rollaround battery charger fixed that, and it started just now without major complaint after sitting for 12 hours.  I'm running full-synthetic Mobile One... that helps, I'm sure.

And, I'm really happy with handling and traction on snow and ice.  I'm running almost new Yokohama HTX, this tire has a LOT of sipes.  I have had to get through 12" of new snow a few times, and it just doesn't matter to this truck, it just goes and goes.

Anyway, I'm basically sheltered-in-place today.  Work got cancelled, a lot of things got cancelled here today... school, mail delivery, etc... but I'm happy.  If I need to get somewhere, I know I can count on my Avalanche.

@ roadrunner777  Cold weather is infamous for taking down a weak battery that may have been fine in the summer; and now you have really cold weather. Try cleaning the terminals and put a battery tender on it at night and maybe it will get through the winter. It was 50+ not 50- and very sunny here in Tacoma today. Sorry, just had to rub it in. :)

@ JVZL1  That is good news JV!!

And yes I finally did something to my Avy today: Changed the stock flasher control with a Novita EP29N flasher module off of Amazon for $10.00 only. Installed White /Amber flashback LEDs in the turns and that only cost me $15.00. Makes it look like a way newer truck at night, and no wiring either; plug and play. Also put LEDs in the  rear taillights on top for parking/brake, but the same bulb does work for the turn signal. Need to contact the seller.

After having the rust issues fixed in the rear door jambs,it turns out that one of the frame brackets for the body is shot under the rear driver door too..it was a pita to get it down, and some new steel had to be fabricated, but now im headin back to the shop to weld it back together.Gas tank is on the other side of the frame rail,so i have to take it slow.

Power steering started to growl today.... low fluid, and a pronounced leak, but unclear where.  I called a mechanic, he said they have been doing GM steering hoses lately because of extreme cold.  Apparently, it thickens up the fluid and it flows more slowly through the steering box, and the pressure build up blows the hose.  Quoted $280ish parts and labor.  He said there is a low temp GM steering fluid, just FYI.

Follow-up: I was able to give him some extra time to fix this because I was out of town, and his shop was overflowing.  He gave me a nice discount off the quote, here's the final bill:
Pressure Hose - $68.48
AC DELCO COLD PS FLUID - $30.31
1.10 hours labor, $115.50
Total $231.31

Replaced both heater hoses, both heater core quick connectors, surge tank, radiator cap and the hose from the radiator to the surge tank.

Used all OEM replacement parts

It's nice to finally be able to see the coolant level and my system is finally developing full pressure since who knows when.

I figured with 225K+ on the original gear, I was probably pushing my luck.

Especially with those original quick connectors.

And speaking of quick connectors, damn those things.

Finally figured out how to get my 2011 with the premium sound system to read music on a large flash drive! Had been stuck using an 8GB drive because nothing else seemed to read properly. Found someone referring to that system not being able to read anything formatted with sectors larger than 8KB. Got a utility that let me format a 32GB flash drive as FAT32 with 8KB sectors and darned if that didn't do the trick. It's a small victory but I'm pretty happy about it. Now if only the user interface didn't suck so hard.

Finished up the HVAC repairs on my Dual Zone Auto Temp Control 2004, got all back together, and the dash pad back on.  Did the cut-the-duct method, rather than disassemble further and fight the duct for room.

Took a right side blend door actuator to fix my B0424 no heat on the right side "freezes my wife" problem.

Took a Dorman HVAC control module to get the B0229 recirculation door to work again.

Someone had taken the dash pad off before as the pillar trim retainers were broken off the plastic and the pillar trim stuck back on with some sort of expanding spray rubber (interesting to get off). Took a couple of used pillar panels ($60) from Ebay to fix the pillar trim - got lucky and happened to find the right color, in perfect shape, and with tweeters.

And now no B0229 or B0424 codes.  Plus no one ever could tell the duct was cut.  Yay!!!  Dumb*** engineers.  This reminds me of removing the bellhousing bolt directly in front of the accelerator pedal in my 2001 Blazer 4x4 (to get the engine out with trans in place).  Bolt backs up against the firewall.  Factory Manual tells you to lower the trans for access to the bellhousing bolts but you need to deal with the transfer case as well.  A 2"x2" flap cut into the floor for bolt access also works - just bent it back and sealed it.  Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.  Dumb*** engineers!

That would work!  I also loved the fuel line clamp bolt on the rear of the driver's side head.  But had to wait until the bellhousing bolts were out and the engine was forward about an inch to get at it.  It never went back on.  I like to do things right, but have found that sometimes there needs to be a compromise.  Getting at the right side temp door actuator in my Avy was another one of those times and I opted to simply cut the duct so it could be removed!  What an engineering cluster****

My XM radio lost its mind every channel said XM preview, although it worked fine last night.
Had to logon from the laptop to get it refreshed then it started working again, then slowly all the preset channels came back. I hope its not a sign of things to come.
