First, I took my 2009 HHR to Carmax this morning and got a check for $3000, leaving me only $1800 difference on the $4800 I paid for my 2002 Z66. The wife is happy = no car payments!
Then after lunch, I went to BMV and got my title work and registration/plate transfer done- so now I can drive my new freedom machine!
It was an estate sale and owned by a mechanic who did all his own work. Going through the owners manual I found scribbles of work that he had done since 2013- transmission oil and filter service, new spark plugs, new rear brake pads and new calipers, He only drove 13,000 miles since the plugs were done at 129K. Tires were said to be new- DOT codes say they are about 2 years old. Only a few small rust specks on the paint so I will touch that up. Its was built in June/2001 and was an early build sent to the Florida market and has been registered here it's whole life. I plan to take it to my Chevy dealer for an oil/filter change and have them do a once over with the wheels off to look for any problems. I didn't see any oil leaks and the cooling system, hoses and water pump look OK, too- but another opinion will give me peace of mind, before I take a trip. I plan to get a small RV in the 4500-5000 lb range soon.
