Does anyone have a youtube video of this repair?  Called dealer and got the $400 repair quote over the phone

I have a 2005 that is throwing the P0449 code.  Will I only need to change the solenoid or will I need to replace the hoses as well?  I have read where some people have just changed the solenoid but others have changed the harness as well.  I wasn't sure if the 2007 and up models were the only ones that needed the hose.

I have a 2007 avalanche that has the whole hose thing. I simply bought the suberban solenoid that has no hose. It slipped right on the existing bracket and works perfectly. The plug even fits. The dealer wanted to sell me the hose and solenoid assembly and a plug adapter for it. Cost $32 dollars instead of $112 they wanted for the parts that are supposed to fix it.  Quite frankly the hose is a stupid idea anyways, as it moves the intake up where the gas fill is and this area gets tons of crap up there if you drive in the rain.  Under the spare tire is dry and practically clean.

It's a very simple fix that you can do by yourself.  The only ttol you will need is probably a flat heat screwdriver just to get the tab to move so you can remove it from the bracket.
I did mine about 9 months ago and got it on amazon for under $20.
So, $20, and about 10 minutes of your time.
It is located just above the rear axle.

Agreed. Getting the hose off the in side of the solenoid was a real Female Dog. So it took me like 45min. I finally cut the damn plastic hose and used a piece of I think it was 5/8" rubber hose with two hose clamps to make the new connection.

Thank you for the info.  I'll be ordering the solenoid this week to hopefully fix it this weekend.

You happen to have a part number for the one you used?

I did this on my 04 and have unfortunately had to add it to the to do list on my 08.

The numbers I was currently getting ready to order were 20995472 - $45.45
19257603 - $17.95

Hi All,

I have a 2009 Avalanche, and threw a P0449 code. After some research, I did the following. FYI this website helps understand the EVAP system and components: http://www.aa1car.com/library/evap_system.htm

I purchased Part Number 12597567 from my local dealer ($48) and replaced. It is located under the hood, under the plastic "Vortec" cover on the top right side of the engine. It's a bit difficult to get to, as the main electrical line coming from the fuse box sits right on top of the part and makes it hard to work around. Also, the clips holding the hose connections are a bit awkward. On one side, there is a white collar that you press and it will disengage and you can pull the hose away. On the other, there is a black stub sticking off the connection, slide it over and it will disengage and allow you to release. Not sure why different connections on either side, but that's the way it was designed.

So far my MIL light is off, will let you know if that changes.

changed the evap solenoid by the tank in my 2007 but the obd scanner still shows it as a pending code. what's up with that? Are there 2 components to the system, one by the tank and one on the intake manifold?

Hey guys i have a 07 avalanche. Last year had code p0449 come up replaced the charcoal canister, vent solinoid and vent hoses. Cleared code and all was good...now 11 months later code p0449 pops up. During this year my gas cap has been broken. I know this can throw a P0449 aswell. But i assume it would have done it sooner. I cant see it being the solonoid valve or canister after only a year. Im going to get a new gas cap in the mean time. Any other ideas ?? Help!!!
