Wyotonka build thread
« on: September 30, 2013, 07:04:14 AM »

So the other day my brother brought to my attention that there really isnt much on this truck i have left alone and i am STILL going   this was brought up since he has been looking for one for him and asked why mine is pretty base model and still has more gadgets than a typical 03 did so i figured a build thread wouldnt be a bad idea :4:
So we start in august of 2010 when I traded my 03 limeted edition Jeep Liberty for it

Now… I was a junior in high school when these were taken …. Don’t ask why there was a fear this sticker on a Jeep Liberty I look back and wonder the same thing however as you can see in the senior pic one it was gone by then (and a pain to take off) however it was dubbed the Liberator at school

So here I sit in August of 2010 with an Avalanche  :B:

pretty much all stock except what is supposed to be black chrome wheels that are peeling due to poor maintenance on the previous owners half and the only reason the cladding is dark in this pic is because i had just armouralled it which i learned about 5 minutes later armor all and scorio roads don't mix  :beating:

Just leave "the bullets" off it right? Hahahaha.

Lol. I'm not stocking you dude, its just that your two posts(Fuel Avalanche and Wyotonka build) came up back to back in my "unread" column and I had to give ya some crap.

A little CAFCNA love. Don't get weird about it. :)

Yeah I ignored mine for a bit too long and ended up having to replace the catalytic converter as well eventually.

Mine are just a bright white spot.
No transformers logo any more so I guess I'll just leave them in an consider them as plain puddle lights

it does get tough.. with truck and house payments but if you dont leave room for fun then you arent living right  i have always lived on the motto that you work to live, you dont live to work and if you have any questions hit me up... when i owned that jeep liberty (which probably saw more mud and trails than a lot of wranglers do) i did nothing on my own because i was scared to mess something up but when you do things on your own it saves the wallet a lot of stress

how much in the front did you go because I considered doing 3'' torsion keys in the front and buying some 2'' spacers in the rear but if I just bought leveling kit that could work too :)

I'll only put a lift on it after I move... It hails a lot here and the truck needs to fit in the garage
I don't remember what size kit was put on it I had plains tire put it on there back before I started doing my own work

how much did you level the front? like how much did you lift it to level because im going to get the adjustable 3'' front torsion keys and debating between a 2'' spacer or 2.5'' spacers for the rear and could do all that for under a $100 :)

well... due to the parasitic drain im going through my mods are piling up these are all mods on the to do that i have parts for that arent going in till i figure this out  :E:

1. amber leds for front of mirrors
2. auto fold in mirrors
3. wig wag drls
4. passenger mirror replacement
5. yellow led footwell lights
6. build new sub boxes for my 2 10's
7. R&R all plastics again  (incoming R&R)
8. Build and mount toggle switch panel

figures the mod bug and a parasitic drain would hit at the same time   :needhug:

LOL
I have been there too.
Don't know if we discussed it earlier but I had the parasitic drain and the first thing that came to mind was the all the electronics I had added over the years, especially the CPU in the truck.
Turned out after doing the parasitic drain test and pulling fuses, my drain was coming from the cigarette lighter and the accessory fuses.

Strangely enough none of my aftermarket accessories were ever connected to those circuits.
I've since pulled the fuses and am waiting for summertime to come around to work on it.
In the mean time, I have been using the truck as a secondary vehicle (that is until my fiancee's POS honda died last week) and I've had it parked for a full week at a time without any battery drain.
Thankfully I have enough USB ports on my powered USB hub to power all my devices so I never use the cigarette plug or the accessories plugs for anything.

 yea mods are contagious and I can't  believe I left cb off there... When we were in the mtn in my moms hummer a cb would have been helpful and went on the for sure mod list after that escapade and ever since the sail panel LEDs I don't like to waste time thinking about it... Kept that one on the todo list for a year (already done just needed hooked up and put in that whole year) and looking back I only regret not doing it sooner because the look is one of a kind on the road

Dang it Wyotonka

That mod list looks like you copied it right of my iPad (with a few differences of course)

Lets see
Blue led interior swap ---------------------------------------------------------------------------red LEDs for me
Bull bar with color matched skid plate -----------------------------------------------------------black with black skid plate
Led bar for bull bar  -----------------------------------------------------------------------------lucky enough to find that cheap so it's done
50" led bar across the top <that one is still a maybe... Haven't seen one in person --------------watching an eBay auction right now but have to pass due to my ignition issues
Power locking tailgate (possibly saddlebags)------------------------------------------------------definitely on my list
Amber led bars down the sides ------------------------------------------------------------------found a sweet deal on Recon White lightning and just waiting to pull the trigger
Modify stock headlights to halo projectors ------------------------------------------------------- doing that too with a slight tweak of my own.  It's meant to be a surprise one off piece so I am keeping my lips sealed
Swap fog lights to super white  -------------------------------------------------------------------swap fogs to HIDs
DRL and turn signal ambers led -------------------------------------------------------------------switchbacks LEDs for turn signals. Went thru 6 sets of LEDs in the DRLs so I quit and stuck with regular amber bulbs
Performance plugs and wires ----------------------------------------------------------------------on my list too.
Finnish exhaust (leaning towards ecutouts)                                                                             dual flowmasters with black tips planned
Semi horn<-- have the parts for that one  banghead ---------------------------------------------100W siren that I rarely use
Dual batteries ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Bought parts of another member here cheap but haven't gotten around to putting it in.
Cup holder mod in tailgate -----------------------------------------------------------------------definately a mus for the summer tailgate parties
Boat drain plug in driver side saddle bag ---------------------------------------------------------not on my list
Led strips for cargo lights ------------------------------------------------------------------------02 came with dual cargo lights so my mod was just to put LEDs in place of original bulbs
Black billet fuel door ------------------------------------------------------------------------------same here only I painted over the black to match the rest of my cladding since it was a different shade
Black Chevrolet lettering on tailgate --------------------------------------------------------------not on my list
And possibly street glow...had it on my jeep and loved it-----------------------------------------out grew that unfortunately but you're welcome to put them on as you see fit.

Others for me are seat covers which you've already done.
LOF or the newer model from Recon -----that you've done too.
Push button start for the truck with a twist ( that one is top secret too so I'm not going into details in a public forum)

and much much more

Hi
I don't want to hijack Wyotonka's thread but here's a boring video of it in action at night. My dash cam is kinda adjusting for all the light so it is even brighter than it looks in the video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TFf4DBcUCc

And a pic......

These lights are extremely bright.

The headlights were on at all times. I only switched the LED bar on and off. When they're on, you barely see the difference with the headlights switched on or off.

I am curious where you found your seat covers. Do those allow armrests to come down? My seats are getting pretty beat up and I like the ways yours look! And how do you like the roof tent?

the roof tent is awesome it still needs sealed so has only been used the one time so far but i like how it keeps you up off the ground
the seat covers are off ebay from a company called IGGEE customs they are holding up great after 2+ years there is a crack in the driver seat now but im pretty sure it started from something in my pocket  :E: mine has the bench seat so i dont know on arm rests but i think they offer them with the arm rests they were great to work with... when you order from them they require you send pics of your seats that way there is no room for error on the description

well... i am really getting irritated now.... the tonka truck is getting a lot done this weekend and then hopefully it will behave after this  :E:

im sure most of you saw the other post that my av has the pump rub in the transfer case now... 113,000 miles  :E:

then yesterday at lunch the check engine light came on so i went to autozone to have them read the codes and then she printed it all off for me  :E:
P0220
P0300
P1518
P1516
P0174
P0171
P0120

Then to top it off.. this morning the fuel pump went as soon as i pulled in at work and i topped off the tank last night  :beating: backed into my parking spot and the truck sputtered and died

so.... to start probably be putting in the new fuel pump after work and most likely going to be doing the hatch under the rear seat since i do not want to drop a full tank

then... most of the codes point to the TPS having bad connection so im going to clean and grease the connections and hopefully that solves that issue
and i had them clear those yesterday and nothing has come back up so im pretty sure the harness is loose

random misfire... going to pull, inspect, and most likely replace the spark plugs since that one has been on my todo list anyways

the upgrade kit for the transfer case should be here the 10th and then that will get torn into

and yea... it got down to -20 last night... my parents called me and their pipes broke in their basement and flooded it which we literally JUST finished redoing because their contractor halfassed it and left turns out we should have looked at his skill of installing windows in a block foundation  :E:

at this point i just want to go back to bed and wake up with a restart

Dude I feel your pain.
Hope you have another vehicle you can use as a standby at times like these.

I'm at 175,000 and have had no transmission issues yet (knock on wood)  but I know when it does happen it won't be easy for me.
As for the fuel pump, well I've been there and had to drop the tank twice because the first time I put the pump in, it was not sitting right and I was leaking fuel at every fill-up.

Anyhow I hope you get those issues resolved and have your truck working right soon.
While it is bad enough to have to fix stuff in the cold winter months, it is even worse to miss out out on any chance to take the truck out in the snow to have some fun.

Now I am off to get a car wash after our snow over here.

i dont have another vehicle  :beating: it would be nice to, but im sure if this is takes more than today to get back to road worthy i will be able to drive a work truck or something

Yea its a pain but i also just talked to my boss (who is also my mom  ) who was hinting that i should look into seeing if i could get a new car loan which i immediately told her im not selling my truck over this and i would have to fix it first anyway so it would be stupid of me to do that because there isnt much left that isnt replaced (transmission is new as of around 65000 miles)

but i was told that if it is slow today that i will be able to clock out and use the shop to get some things buttoned up so im not using my weekend doing it  :A:

and i know what you mean about needing a wash

I don't buy the frozen fuel line thing. Diesel? Maybe, Gas? No.
...
P0220
P0300
P1518
P1516
P0174
P0171
P0120

...backed into my parking spot and the truck sputtered and died ...
2003 truck, right? Are you sure the fuel pump is dead?
A couple things to think about. Early two thousand models had some issues with the sub-grade wiring. The wires used had fewer strands. Even though the gauge was larger to meet the specification, the fewer strands made the wiring brittle. This also allowed them to expand and contract with heating. More than usual. Heat from the engine and the vibration seem to be causing the failures. The GM answer is to replace the engine harness.
I have seen several, and it is a known issue that the engine harness had cracking wiring. The bad wires I have seen were the yellow wire about six inches from the throttle body.
Cut loose the loom and expose the wires. Pulling each wire can reveal internal breaks that are obvious. If in doubt use a multimeter to test the wire. Remember some of these issues created intermittent problems. Solder and heat shrink will repair the break. I have personally repaired three that had all sorts of problems prior to the fix. Now all have been trouble free. GM replaced throttle bodies, fuel pumps, throttle pedal assemblies , etc... all under warranty. None solved the problem. I fixed the yellow wire, and trouble free the last four or five years now.

Next up may be the fuel pump wiring connector. Fuel pump failures were being blamed on the small terminals in the connector. They were not allowing the needed amperage flow and resulting in damage to the fuel pumps. Some of the new pumps come with a new connector. Stick with Delphi for the replacement. Cheaper pumps are not the answer. You will replace them again way too soon. Replace the module. The sender needs to be replaced too, or you will be in doing that next. Bite the bullet and do it right the first time. I can post pictures of the crap Carter, Airtex, and other cheap pump modules pumps if needed. I have a whole rant on my forum about those.

All this said. Be sure to reset the PCM and control modules to get a fresh picture of what is happening. I don't trust a failure code until it sets more than once. A scan tool works well for clearing all the codes. Resetting the stored start sequence takes a bit more. Pull both battery cables. Wait at least three minutes. Capacitors in the system can keep the modules powered for a time. Yes, I know this method may be "voodoo" , but it works for me :eyes crossed: ;)

didnt plan on buying cheap replacement i was taught if you plan on keeping a vehicle to put in the good stuff

it was -20°f here last night and if there was water in the fuel (filled the tank last night) then the water could have frozen

**just went out and it fired up no hesitation (it is still -2° here) i plan on checking wiring after work with those codes being thrown but will still be putting the heet in the tank.. even if it isnt frozen we are supposed to be -19° tonight with windchills reaching -50° so it wont hurt to have it in there

Got engine heater? Look for K05 in the RPO code list. If you don't have one add it to your list. A freeze plug heater is a must for those conditions. I also have a cabin heater. I will not go without that! really nice to jump in the truck and have all the windows defrosted :) Keeps the driver defrosted too ;)

All our fuel here is mandated to have ethanol. I keep a couple bottles of HEET in the truck. Not for the truck, but for the white box stove. Melting snow for water in an emergency.

Keep in mind that if you are having intermittent problems and a warm truck seems to do it more than cold, it could be the wiring. A little search will reveal many others that had the same issues. $0.10 worth of solder fixes it.

Look for a cord tied along the frame rail. I have run into many that never knew it was there. Newer models have a thermostat in the plug so they do not heat above freezing. Saves on power and you don't throw a code when starting above freezing.

Limiting airflow through the radiator can help warm ups. Be careful though. Block too much air and you can over heat.
In severe weather I might consider some sort of cover. Usually the weather does not stay that cold for that long. Newer engines with electric fans don't need this help quite as much since the fan is not pulling air all the time. The biggest advantage would be in highway travel.

If your temp is not rising consistently, suspect a sticky thermostat. Coolant should be changed no less than every five years. That gets neglected by most, myself included.

 pretty much ... on the bright side i put the HEET in the tank let it sit for a while and then went on my "lunch" went everywhere i needed to without anything out of the ordinary... rpms were normal engine temp was lower than normal but that is expected when its this cold  no whine from the pump and one happy guy (really didn't want to tackle that today )

I just put in a new thermostat a month ago and last summer I was lwaking coolant throught my radiator so got that fixed and has fresh coolant and that's the thing 90% of my drive is high way and myn is a 2004 so I am gona look for that plug is it just a block heater? because if it had one that would be AWSOME! I was talking to my dad about it he though I was nuts that it might already have one

Check your RPO code list for a K05 That is the engine heater package.
It is a frost/freeze plug heater in the side of the block. The cord is usually wrapped and tied to the frame rail inside the engine compartment. I have seen many who never knew it was there.

Unfortunately I did not have the RPO code KO5.
I did my research knowing I was moving to MN but I am not one of the lucky ones.

ok so i have ran into a dillema that i need some input on .... i have the tan 3rd row seats out of a suburban/tahoe and dont want to spend another 180 for the matching seat covers and since its going to be my 3rd row seat i figured i would do the vinyl dye/paint to match the black and yellow instead of dragging around a seat with a cover on it screwing up the covers....

I have not mounted these yet and will get updated pics when that happens

I have heard of people plasti dipping there seats and I seams to me like it would hold up idk but could be something to reaserch for shure and if I were you I would do the second option with the seatbelts I think that would look cool :) hope you had a merry Christmas and a happy new btw I got some torsion keys now I can level mine maby lift it depending if the rear needs it or not good luck anyways keep us updated

i dont think plastidip would hold up at all.... this is just for the 3rd row seat too the fronts and backs are going to be the same as they are now with the black and yellow covers i just dont want tan seats in the very back with black and yellow up front...

I've been watching for a cheap set of suburb 3rd row for my '07 AV to do the same thing. What did you encounter when trying to mount the seats? They fit ok between the bed sides? Home made mount brackets? Did you find suburban 3rd row mount locations on the AV?

There are not mount locations under the mat as much as i was hoping there would be... i have arranged it so once its nicer i can measure my neighbors mount locations and program it at work and make it all one plate that will bolt to the sides of the be to make removal easier so that its a plate formed in the shape of a 4 ft wide channel with the mount locations on it so the seats slide in and latch the same... they fit between the side rails but hit the cargo panel 2 strikers... no solution there yet but im using a plate because i want to be able to turn the mounting plate around so the seats can face the back too...

Good idears

I noticed the seats were right at the #2 panel latches but atleast the seats fit between the bed sides and have integrated belts. The '07+ 3rd row suberb seats have built in cup holders and storage pocket .

Not sure that I will do this just yet but I like having more pieces to my transformer so I can change it up whenever I want....  :D

this is the exact style that the 3rd rows i have are and i realized that im not going to be able to paint or dye them with the seams and have it match mine

so i had a couple ideas....

option 1 disreguard the seams at all and mask off to match... (sorry dont have photoshop just paint and i used watercolor hoping the seams would still show through but they didnt

option 2 follow some of the seams in the center section for a somewhat similar look

option 3 do the 2 straight sections in the center of the 2 seats and the seatbelts and headrests

any other ideas welcome

I like option 1.  Feel like it will flow better with the way the current seat color scheme is laid out.

So you're going to dye the yellow over where you just did some of the black or was that area masked off when doing the black?

Ok so went up to the mountain with the family and a friend my parents and sister were in my dad's truck and my buddy and I were in the Tonka truck following them... Well it was around low 20's with Wyoming wind whipping unbelievably through the mountains and the Tonka truck bogged down so we went around 50 most of the way there and sadly took forever because we had to go so slow ... I guess I do need a winter front for mine I never really thought about powdered snow getting blasted in there and freezing things up . After a full day of boarding the Tonka truck fired up fine and drove all the way down the mountain fine... The temp was below 210 though which is usually where it sits

Nice Wyotonka.
I hope they do hold up as I've been holding out on getting seat covers because I couldn't find the Orange later to match the exterior or even come close.
This look so good that I am willing to invest in seat covers and dye the middle section before even putting them on the truck.
Now to see if VHT carries the something close to the Sunburst orange that I need.

Wyotonka.
You've inspired me. Thank You .
VHT does not make anything near the Orange I want but now I am on a quest to find a dye that will work as this is something I need to do if I must get this truck looking the way I want.
I didn't even think of dyeing the seat covers to my choice of color until I saw this.

LOL. They've got this express oil change place near me where all they do is oil changes.
They guarantee to have you in and out in 15 minutes or your money back.

Nice concept even though I still do my own oil changes.

Yeah, but you DRIVE to get your oil changed. You aren't going to ship your car 1/2 way across the USA to get your oil changed are you???

Same goes for dying seats, are you going to ship them across the USA for some guy to do dye them and pay to ship them back? No.

Hey Wyotonka
How many quarts of yellow did you have to use.
I'm trying to figure out the quantity I would need for 4 seats so I can figure out a ball park price if I were to have someone mix a customer color dye for my seats

4. Big rig lights down the sides

5. install new sub since old one has a torn cone  :beating:

6. Maglite mod should be done friday after work when i get a maglite

7. auto folding mirror module

ill have to check my box-o-mods to see what im missing here  :E:

now i get to clean it again tonight because our piece of S*** sheriffs dept apparently thinks its funny to take the drinks out of the cup holders and dump them across the front floorboard, front seats, and center console  :E: im getting to the point with the cops in this town that im losing my patience... if you want to think that i did something and search my truck then respect it when you are wrong, don't slam the doors, don't dump crap out, and dont have your dog go roll around chasing a bone through mud and snow then tell him to get back in my truck  :beating:

Nice mod list though

Heres mine so far

2009 Chevy Avalanche

4 in front 2 in rear lift
2 in wheel spacers
Flowmaster 40 dual turndowns
33inch hankook dynapro atms
HD tow mirrors
LED amber grill lights
Full time daily running lights mod (so they stay on with low beams)
Full time fogs mod (so they stay on when highs come on)
55watt 6k low beam HIDs
35watt 6k fog HIDs
Plastidipped all chrome on truck
Camo wrapped bow ties
Bedlinered bed covers and plastic surround
Train horn
Class IV curt hitch
Mag light holder in bedside storage
LED backup, taillights, license plate, daily running lights, front turn signal bulbs, interior
Electronic trailer brakes
self modified Diablosport predator

Future mods:
This summer mods hopefully include a 2005 2500 dmax/allison/divorce case/ rear end swap along with a body lift and a dana 60 front end. Then I will try to put on some 8 inch F250 lift coils and shocks for the front and 7 inch chevy 1500 lift coils in back so it will ride smoother. then add a 2 inch level on that.  and some 8 lug wheels and bigger tires.
Later on I will still be doing a custom bumper set up front and rear, custom steps, and a roof rack to put light bars and such on
IIIIFFFF I do it, this thing will be truly one of a kind. I havent hear of anyone doing it yet in a 07+, but I have seen giant lifts. I know of a guy in FL that has a 07 with 25 inch lift and 50s with front and rear ends swapped with stock motor and wants to drop in a cummins 5.9 next year.

I really really hope I can get this done this summer. I am busting my butt doing custom car and truck work right now and will mow grass and do little league umpiring this year and work hard all summer getting money too. Please wish me luck guys!!!!!!

OKAY HOLD UP RIGHT THERE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!  sorry for the yelling, I get loud when I am excited hahah lol I am actually talking to a guy right now out of florida, he wants me to build him a set of custom headlights
will be taking new ones he buys
baking them
taking them apart
sanding the housing
prime it
paint it black
gloss it
build custom halo rings with a wireless remote to switch between red and white
attaching those
put them back together
bake them
add windoweld around seal to help seal more out
install hids in there
shipping them and the ballasts to him

what do you think?

You guys suck and are making me let the cat out of the bag on my top secret project.
I'm also planning on doing custom headlights too.
Only difference is I want to use projector lenses with the Transformers logo etched into them and include orange halos to complete the look.

FYI.. This post will self destruct at midnight EST tonight.

Nice nice lol

yeah they do look like they burned out. I have a customer that drives a R@M 1500 and liked the light so much that he made me order them and I am waiting to put those on next week

I also have another two customers that will be dropping their nissan titan and BMW 328 off for plasti dip tow mirrors and BMW blue caliper paint. Also the BMW owner is willing to pay me and extra 100 to fully wash and wax his car for him

All I have to say is it is too cold to snow in MN right now.
It has to warm up just to snow.

Figured out how you are gonna wire them up yet?

I know when we talked last night I suggested since your drls wigwag, try wiring two on each side to each drl and that way they wigwag with the drls. I think that would look sick as hell

Is the marker light circuit already in there? like is it in the fuse box already? I was wondering because I was gonna get a set of cab lights from recon and I would have to get a wiring harness to do so and I figured the circuit was in already because you can plug and play a lot in these gm trucks

well everyone. I hate to do this to any company but I DO NOT reccomend doing business with WebXtremes.com <that is where I got my last Tonka Bowtie so naturally when i needed a new one I went to their website to find it, hit order, and continued my day. (On the 6th) ... fast forward to yesterday, went to find the shipping/confirmation email to see when it was expected and didnt see one. I went back to their site and emailed them this...
Hi, I ordered a Tonka Chevy bowtie on the 6th and havent had any verification or shipping email sent to me. I would appreciate it if someone could let me know the status on this as I am also considering ordering the center cap decals.
Thanks,
Justin

to my dismay, this is what I got back today

Sorry behind on orders.   We should be shipping this on Friday.

I then, a little agitated with a short response to a customer who they are 2 weeks late on an order with no contact, responded with this hoping they could manage to put a decal in an envelope before Friday.

any idea on how long it will take to ship to me? it would be nice to be able to do it this weekend since I have to take my front end off. Is shipping this slow normally? I ordered these on the 6th... Two weeks seems like a long time and I will have to look somewhere else for the center caps if that is the case.
Thanks,
Justin

In which they responded with,

As I said behind on orders.  Can't predict equipment failure.

As far as shipping goes.  We ship on Friday you won't have it on Saturday.  Mail is not that fast here even if we ship it overnight it takes two business days.

I wont put my response on here since i did get very upset at this point and I am now wondering if i can make this decal happen without them and cancelling the order. For a company that does as much as them, you would think they would have a little more customer service than this and obviously you can buy from them if you want... just thought i would let you guys know and will update if they decide to admit fault here.

there isnt any other companies that can do it? You dont have a local sign or wrap company that can apply a decal onto it and cut it to the size of the bowtie

Nobody local will touch it since it says Tonka... I just got an email back from them that stated that they were not trying to have an attitude and apologized for dropping the ball and said they should have contacted. I think I am going to let the bowtie come in as it is more work to do it the other way and make my point over a $20 order ... I might see if I can get a deal on the centercaps elsewhere though  :E:

I understand where hes coming from though. I mean I have been waiting for a while for a light bar from roger and got upset until I knew it was his supplier since it was chinese new year they practically shut down china from three weeks haha. So even his bar didnt come in and he was just as annoyed. its just annoying as all get out

i got my level kit back when i didn't do my own work.. didn't have a garage so i really couldn't do much lol... i did help a buddy with his for a bit but they were rusted in so he had to take them to his shop and heat them up to get them off so I'm not really sure haha. Just be careful and i would suggest an extra pair of hands so that you leave the project with 10 fingers... i have been told the load on them is pretty dangerous.

putting on the keys is not to hard, the tool is pretty simple since its almost like a c clamp.  the nice tools will tighten to the torsion bar mount so they cant slide around.  when you go to remove them count the threads on the adjustment bolts then go about unloading the keys. slide out the blocks holding the keys they use a hammer to push the keys off the torsion bars.  depending on the area you live in and the weather/age can cause a lot of rust so I suggest hitting them with pb blaster once or twice a day the few days leading up to the job.  once off replace with the new keys and put the blocks and bolts back in then measure and adjust till level.  this thread has good info in pics.

I got a quote of $300 to do do the torsion keys and the rear spacer from my local 4X4 shop. You may want to try to get a price on all together. It would be a better deal. I don't want to try to do it myself as I don't have a lift so I'll be taking mine in around spring.

Try these guys.
wwww.ssupremesuspensions.com
There have been lots of talk about them in the off-road forums here and so far I've yet to see one negative comment.  I bought the full kit including the torsion keys, rear spring spacer and the shock extender for less than $200.  I also bought a second set of rear spring spacers as I am not sure if I want 1 1/2 or 2 inches lift in the rear at the moment.

I got a set of torsion keys, shock spacers, and coil spacers for just over 200 on autoanything.com by traxada which used to truxx. you really just need to look around, usually people are doing specials and you can get a good brand at a good price.

There is a thread on here some where about a fix for the front cladding. If i remember correctly you just push it back in place and use a self tapping screw in the wheel well area and it should hold. Then a little black touch up paint and your done.

I have a customer from florida that is waiting on the money for it but wants me to build him a set for his 04 red av. Gonna take his apart and paint the bottom part for the drl and turn signal black like mine on my build, leave the top ones, and then do a custom set of red/white halos, will be making them myself and will have an led that will stay white when driving and he can flip a switch to make them red. then I will also get him a 40 inch light bar for the top and have a company do backlighting on it

Yep. When I get to mine which hopefully will be soon I am thinking of adding halo rings as well as demon eyes. Still debating whether I want orange/ amber rings to match the truck or white. Since they'll both be legal up font the decision is hard. I would have done amber wired to the DRLS circuit and white wired to the parking lights but with the FTDRL mod that is no longer possible.

Can you tell me if those projectors you are getting can hold a standard headlight bulb?

I am looking at getting an LED but want to use it in a projector if it will fit. I got a response that the LED is designed to be a direct replacement for the light but I have heard from other people that have used them that they are way too bright with the stock light bucket so I want to look at possibly getting a set of projectors with Halos/Angel/Demon eyes and using them with the LED's instead. Plus that lets me black out the chrome backing of the light for a more unique look. I will likely put LED's with projectors to replace the low beams and also replace the high beams without the projector.

I do like the smoked headlight look but I am trying to go a different route so I can blacken up the chrome as much as possible and leave the light otherwise stock.

Debating on something for the turn signals too. I want to blacken them up and thinking about installing an LED light bar inside the fixture if I can find one that fits that will do both turn signals and parking light functions. (The Yellow/White switching stuff would be cool there...)

The halos that I found don't accept regular bulbs , but from what I was reading on them you can have them in the high beam and low beam and it ties the 2 together and makes them both low beams till you hit the switch and then they are both high beams  :o he site that has them is a wholesale site that I am a member on due to a business venture I'm gearing up for  http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Manufacture-Car-Accessory-Double-Angel-Eyes-Bixenon-Projector-Headlamp-Headligt-Projector-H4-Bixenon-With-Halo-Projector/1526046044.html

Idk man. I would be skeptical of the quality of the projectors at only $60.00  If I do projectors ever I would go with www.theretrofitcource.com because they have the best stuff out there and everything you will need in doing it.

well it is a wholesale site that is based out of china... as long as the housing itself is fine which it should be as reviews of this site are pretty good the light bulbs can be bought from anywhere and that is the part I am worried about relying on

well everyone.

For a company that does as much as them, you would think they would have a little more customer service than this and obviously you can buy from them if you want... just thought i would let you guys know and will update if they decide to admit fault here.

to update on this... never heard anything back after this discussion... did not recieve the sticker till monday night  :beating: the ship date on the envelope was the 27th WTH? (was told in the email it would ship on the 18th) so like I said before, its up to you who you do business with, but I WILL NOT be doing anything with this company anymore (I placed the order feb 6th) their website says 5-7 days shipping and when I got "status updates" I had to contact them to find anything out... Im not going to beg to be somebodies customer and if thats how they treat their customers I hope it ends soon.

Went to the twin cities auto show today. If my truck had had a lift and some bigger tires, it would have been on par with the aftermarket rigs they had there with the light bar the same as mine

so hopefully at some point i will be able to get the tonka truck clean and pics of it up with the new mods on it  right now we aren't due for more snow til Friday and i will be in CO then so I'm ok with that

on a side note though last saturday was finally warm enough to crawl under the truck and i had a broken wire in the trailer harness that was causing my cruise/remote start issues. For now I spliced them back together and taped them but this summer i will probably look into replacing the harness

I got my mods sitting at home and this starter problem is driving me crazy to the point I'm just thinking if I hadn't signed the paperwork for another vehicle for my girlfriend, I'd be talking to a GM dealer about getting a used black diamond off the lot somewhere.  :E:

you should consider painting the silver trim on your rims to yellow. I think it may bring it all together.

cool eternity knot in the back window...
thanks  programmed it up and sent it to my sticker guy... been drawing up a design for a screen that will still have the knot in the middle and a metal frame with metal screen so I can keep my window out for a while when it decides to quit snowing  :E:

Thats a great idea man!!! I will definitely be talking to you about that idea, maybe getting my company decal printed in it? Would you be able to do that? And I would paint it all black and do the lettering white and the redline well, red

I will post a pic of the design in a little while

Heres the idea, and the shirts hahaha

But I want to think about doing the back glass mesh piece like you were talking about, then do a metal frame around it, and then the logo on there. I will paint the mesh, and then paint the lettering white, and the redline red, and then I will store it in the spot for the back glass on the midgate and swap them when I want to

I was going to cut the trinity knot out of metal also... I just want security but air flow  so there would be support in the middle too... I would have to coat the frame in something though to keep the defrost from contacting and causing issues
