Woohoo! Just drove the 2011 home.
« on: November 9, 2019, 23:01:48 PM »

Just wanted to share with you guys. After a long search, I finally found one. 2011 LTZ 4WD.
Aside from an exterior dent and 3 cracks in the dash (at the corner of the airbag cover, and at the binnacle in front of the steering wheel),  the truck is in excellent shape. The icons on the climate control knobs are still there, Lol.
It had 98961 miles when I took possession. The 125-mile drive home, over the Grapevine on Interstate 5 from SoCal to Central California netted 27 MPG, cruise control at 72 with AC on. That is MUCH better than my 2018 Colorado ZR2 ever did, not that MPG is that important in a truck, but a fun fact to observe.

The leather seats are in very good shape, no tear. The bed cover panels are not faded. Here are some photos to share with the forum, whose many members have helped me so much. Thank you all!!!

Seller only had 1 key fob. How do I get another one?
I did a search for "duplicate key" and "replacement key", no returns.

Thanks,

I'd order one directly from a dealership. Way too many variations and non-OEM out there online.

Wait, hold up. Full stop.    27 MPG??? Either you Flinstone'd it, drove downhill most of the way or maybe the Cali recreational grass is so good you forgot you stopped and added fuel once? 27mpg just doesn't add up.

She looks sharp! I like the dark leather!

One very minor tip you may not have found yet, and being in Cali it's likely not a big problem for you, check the drain holes for each door. The drain holes are just behind some weatherstripping at the bottom of each door and they can get clogged with debris allowing water to sit and rust from within the door. I use a bit of weed-eater string to chase through and make sure the drain valley way is clear.

Thanks for the drain holes tip! The 27 MPG was just 1 tank, and I drove rather conservatively, didn't hammer the throttle from a stop. Cruise  control on, etc. Freeways only. I'll keep track of the next tank, mixed driving expected.

On the positive side, you would never even get close to that kind of mileage with a ext.

Got some info from the dealer today. I'd need to buy the key fob and they'll program it. Total cost is about $350. Is that reasonable?
Thanks,

Looks like a very nice, well put together system.
I've used Borla before for my other cars, will certainly check out Corsa.

Summit Racing sells Corsa for $1057.99, Borla for $927.99

Is it just the fob or key included?

I called them again to clarify, with the key, the total cost will be $375.

$100 labor probably. Genuine GM fob can be had for about $80-90 (part number 22936098). Dealer price is probably closer to $130. Finding a legit key though for the 2011 is a pain. I've had no luck tracking that down. Everything is either for the wrong model or aftermarket junk. If it were me I'd just go with the dealer's offer. If something doesn't work right I can at least complain to them to get it straightened out.

Nice truck. Be careful with those cracks...there has been a lawsuit to try and get GM to fix. Here is the link regarding the lawsuit related to the cracked dash issue, which can lead to a compromised airbag:

https://www.carparts.com/blog/the-latest-on-the-gm-cracked-dash-issue/

You can check to see here to see if there is an airbag recall on your vehicle:

https://my.chevrolet.com/recalls?evar18=takata_website_chevrolet_silverado1500

And this link shows you a cracked dash being covered with a "dash cover" for a cosmetic fix:
