2012 Headlights. Brighter options?

LEDs or HIDs.  I put HIDs in my previous Avalanche (2007), both low and high beam, and they were stupid bright!!  The only downside to just slapping some HID or LED bulbs in the factory headlight housing is that they were not designed with HID or LED bulbs in mind.  The reflectors required for both HID and LED are different from those for an incandescent style bulb.  As the driver, you wouldn't notice it, but oncoming traffic would get 'more glare' from them.

This go around, on my 2nd Avalanche (again, a 2007), I am using LEDs and new 'projector' style housings.  These have a specially designed reflector inside that are more aptly suited for HID and LED conversions.

Another drawback that I have experienced with both HID and LED conversions, is with the design of the bulbs themselves.  Where the stock bulb has a 90* connector molded into it, typically both types of the conversion bulbs have a 180* connector on them.  Where this presents a problem is with the low beam bulb location.  Directly behind the low beam bulb socket is one of the metal bars for the radiator core support.  So, in both of my cases, it required modification to this bar in order to successfully convert the low beam bulb to HID or LED.

In the end, it was totally worth it!
